Nicholas Co. schools are closed tomorrow due to the cold.

I took my son to school and he ran in before me and my daugher got in. My poor daughters face is so red/wind burned b/c she was trying to find "bubby" and was right in the nasty bitterly wind. It did hurt to be out there today and tomorrow will be worse.

Boone County has closed numerous time because of cold weather before.

Like the professor said, if you live in an area where kids either have to walk a long way to the stop or sit on a bus with no heat for an hour or more, school should be cancelled. This cold is too extreme for an hour long trip without heat.

Even if school is not closed. I would probably keep my kids home if I needed to make that decision. Just better knowing they are warm inside at home.

Kids today are too soft. What about all the people who used to walk to school 7 miles, in the snow, uphill both ways?

Are there any districts out there thinking about this? Is it a good reason to cancel school?

My district is thinking about closing school tomorrow and I think it's a no brainer. There are kids that have to catch the bus as early as 6:00 and it is supposed to be BRUTAL tomorrow morning.

 

Catching the bus at 6:00 am is ridiculous even in good weather.

What about kids in Northern states. My dad is in Minnesota and it is like -25 without factoring in the wind chill. Take the proper precautions and they will be fine.

Maybe so, but in some of the more rural counties with centralized schools, it's a fact of life.
