January 15, 200917 yr Yes they could beat Alabama. But still, Florida will win the East, which in effect ends UK's chances of getting to the SEC Championship game and they will not get a BCS berth without getting into that. Do you see what I am saying? Georgia did it last year...

Now the kids want to stay and accomplish better things for UK football each year. They are enjoying the UK football experience and want to be part of it. Give coach Brooks & Joker all the credit in te world for turning this thing completly around.
January 15, 200917 yr Author Well only 2 SEC teams can make it, so no. Outback Bowl, definite chance :thumb:. I went last time UK played and it is the best, it would be my bowl of choice! That area of Florida, the weather, the stadium, what else could you ask for.

January 16, 200917 yr I'm glad he's coming back, but I'm a little perplexed by the overflowing optimism. BCS? Lindley's return doesn't suddenly shoot UK to the top of the SEC. The defense should be very good again next year, but the offense still has to get going. It never turned the corner this year. Cobb's insertion into the lineup helped, but the unit still struggled. I think I'll wait and see how they look when the season opens next year, because I'm not sold on the offense, nor will I be until I see it do something in real games. I think it's reasonable to expect an improvement from this season to next for sure, but there are still some questions that need to be answered for UK. And, it doesn't change the fact that teams like Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, and Auburn still have extremely talented rosters...moreso than UK. If Lindley could have gone in the second round, I think he should have entered the draft. I'm not sure his stock will get any higher than that unless he bulks up. He could make a living as a nickel corner.
January 16, 200917 yr Agree completely with 5wide. There are so many questions marks on offense that it is difficult for me to get super optimistic about next season. I mean, look at the SEC schedule and be honest with yourself while you predict those games. Lindley's return is HUGE HUGE HUGE. I don't think anyone will argue how great that is for the defense. But, as solid as the defense can be, the offense could still be absolutely horrid. UK fans are putting a LOT of hope in two Frosh QB's and expected a WR corp to go from bad to good over the course of one offseason. Don't even get me started on the running back situation. 7-5 would be an EXCELLENT year IMO. BUT, after all of that, I do expect 2010 to be a really good year. Especially if UK can sign Finch and steal a suprise stud at CB before signing day. I think this years class is VERY good and will contribute in 2010.
January 16, 200917 yr This gives our defense 4 very good players coming back with Lindley, Johnson, Jarmon, and Peters IMO. Now just combine them with some other good defenders and get some new guys playing well and our defense could be pretty dominant.
January 16, 200917 yr The staff seemed REALLY high on Trevathan and I liked what I saw out of Burden during the bowl game. I also happen to think that Guy could be a stud safety. Maxwell will be seviceable at LB. Couple that with the news in another thread that Warford has re-enrolled in school and UK's defense certainly looks to be solid if not improved.
