True dat. But I still want them to have to "work" for it. Many thugs will be caught in the process of obtaining one illegally.

 

Think about this statement for a second. How exactly will a new set of more restrictive and stringent regulations help catch thugs who are obtaining one illegally outside of these regulations? A criminal already knows he just can't walk into a gun store and purchase a gun, as a result of background checks required by the Brady Law. He has to find some other means (buy on the street, steal it, etc..). This new law - or ANY law - will have absolutely no impact on him at all. He'll still get the weapon in same fashion regardless of the Brady Bill, the new law, or any other law the anti-gun group wants to enact.

Well, unfortunately for you :lol: , you are the most outspoken in this thread in favor of this new law, so I was just hoping that you - or anyone else, for that matter, would take a stab at it.

I would ,however like to remind you that gun registration has only been in use for 40 years in the US. So that tells me that there are millions upon millions of firearms unregistered in this country. Some of which are full autos and high capacity weapons intended for use in war . So any attempt to register future purchases will have little to do with criminal activity in the future.

I believe there were only less than 7% of Australia's firearms turned in under the countrys buy back program and they spent untold millions to make that happen. The bottom line is criminals will always find a way to get a gun. If they can get a piece of pipe and a drill they can make one in fifteen minutes. Anyone, feel free to help me understand how these new gun laws will help.

You sound like a potential handgun owner. Time for the federal government to take your fingerprints. While they are at it, they might as well get a DNA sample, a copy of your video rentals, and a list of any books that you have checked out or purchased since the age of 10. :lol:

 

Gun control advocates are among the first to scream when their other constitutional rights are threatened and the first to advocate the infringement on the Second Amendment because it is not a freedom than most of them choose to exercise themselves.

I've got nothing against hand guns. I own one. But I want to make it as difficult as possible for someone who wants to harm my family or my property to obtain one. If you are on the up and up you will still be able to get a gun if you want one. If you are a criminal, I don't want you to have one. It's that simple.

 

But criminals don't typically follow the legalities to get their guns. Just like marijuana is illegal, honestly I'd say everyone here could get their hands on that by nights end. An unregistered gun, may take a day or two.

I'm with whoever said that if I had intentions on doing something illegal with a gun, I probably would not go about buying the gun legally. Someone else said something along the lines of, "the bad thing about criminals/thugs is that they have a nack for disregarding the law, hence the reason they are criminals/thugs." People who have the will to do something, are going to do it regardless of what is put in place. This law seems to me like the only thing it is regulating and controlling are the people who go about doing things the right way in the first place. We put stricter restrictions on our law abiding citizens to reduce crime??? Hmmm. I just don't think this law is going to make it any safer out there unfortunately, because the people who commit crime typically don't go about doing it the legally correct way.

Well, that was the same question that was ask by the people of Australia, just before they had their guns taken.

 

The same lady that headed that venture(and I can't remember her name) has met with Hillary several times about how they did this. Almost every person appointed by Obama has had previous experience in gun ban issues. You have to admit it looks fishy.

By the way, the new administration had posted their new gun law plans on Obamas website a few weeks ago , it was only there for two days . It caused so many responses they had to remove it. Now they will just try to slide it by.

Gun control laws do nothing to make citizens safer. Instead, gun control laws serve to disarm law-abiding citizens. You think the crooks are going to follow these registration laws? You think this kind of open registration would have somehow prevented the kid that shot Blair Holt from getting his hands on a gun?

Depends on what "Pro-gun control you're talking about. If you say "nobody needs to own a semi-automatic weapon", you're Anti-gun. Obama is NO friend to any supporter of the 2nd Amendment, that's more than clear. You on the other hand, I know you worry mostly about children, your heart's in the right place, but on gun regulations I think you let your heart lead you a little too much for what us gun owners consider reasonable. I still think of you as a friend, we just are worlds apart politically, that's OK with me.

Why does anyone have to give any reason for why they want/need a gun? I have my reasons (not the least of which is I need one for my job), but even if my reason was because I felt I needed it for protection against an increasingly disturbed and dangerous society, what right it is of anyone to tell me that I am not justified in that feeling? The constitution gives me the right to have a weapon for whatever reason I want without needing to justify that reason to the government or anyone else.
