My comment isn't about "gun problems". My comment is about the excuse that guns are NEEDED because "society is debased, degraded and degenerating, godless, etc". That doesn't get solved by having guns. It doesn't get worse because you have your name in a database if you do own a gun. I am continually amazed at the "solution" that a gun is supposed to be....in reality, it's no solution at all.

 

Why does anyone have to give any reason for why they want/need a gun? I have my reasons (not the least of which is I need one for my job), but even if my reason was because I felt I needed it for protection against an increasingly disturbed and dangerous society, what right it is of anyone to tell me that I am not justified in that feeling? The constitution gives me the right to have a weapon for whatever reason I want without needing to justify that reason to the government or anyone else.

Apparently, the lack of such regulation does nothing to make citizens safer either. That's not a very solid argument, IMO.

 

The only people you'll be regulating are the people that follow the laws to begin with.

I dunno, but apparently if we just limit the number of guns out there, or make it harder or less convenient to those of us that abide by the law to obtain them, then I guess gun crime will drop off.

You sound like a potential handgun owner. Time for the federal government to take your fingerprints. While they are at it, they might as well get a DNA sample, a copy of your video rentals, and a list of any books that you have checked out or purchased since the age of 10. :lol:

 

Gun control advocates are among the first to scream when their other constitutional rights are threatened and the first to advocate the infringement on the Second Amendment because it is not a freedom than most of them choose to exercise themselves.

Ask that question of citizens of those countries that had to register first, then had their gun confiscated.

I've got nothing against hand guns. I own one. But I want to make it as difficult as possible for someone who wants to harm my family or my property to obtain one. If you are on the up and up you will still be able to get a gun if you want one. If you are a criminal, I don't want you to have one. It's that simple.

God hasn't been removed from the forefront. But, many people choose to not put God in the forefront. As much as I wholeheartedly believe in the value of the Catholic Education for my kids, even if they'd gone to public school, God would have been in the forefront. Don't blame the government for removing God.

That's what the Brady Bill was all about. And sadly, if some thug/punk really wants to get a gun and harm you or your family, they'll get around ANY law or regulation you could ever fathom putting in place. The crummy thing about thugs and criminals is that they have this annoying habit of disregarding the laws and rules of our country.

I knew that I was leaving out something important. I wonder how long it will be before any crime involving a handgun will result in the forfeiture of personal property.
