January 12, 200917 yr I wonder if The Hawk will ever get in? Same with Ron Santo I think Dawson will be a lot like Rice. His support will grow the last couple of years he's on the ballot--the only thing is who will be on it with him his last couple of years of eligibility.

January 12, 200917 yr Glad to see Jim Rice make it..this was his last chance. There are a couple pretty notable players eligible next year (Barry Larkin, Fred McGriff, Roberto Alomar)
January 12, 200917 yr If he wasn't good enough the first nine times, why did he suddenly become good enough this time? I've never understood the voting for this. Actually, it was the first 14 times. And I've wondered the same thing myself. A very good player to be certain, but if not good enough to garner induction in his first 14 attempts, what - other than a sympathy vote - propelled him in on this vote? He didn't have a .300+ career average, didn't have 400 HR's, didn't have 1500 RBI, never won a Gold Glove. I think he's a marginal entry. If he goes, then Dawson has to be next.
