January 14, 200917 yr Maybe, maybe not. Those transgressions occurred during the middle of his career and he seemed to rise above them, even getting enough votes to almost win the MVP in '85. For me, when I think back to his career, I think of a very good player who, during a stretch of a few years, dominated the game. But I don't consider him a HOF player. Close, but not quite there. And I feel the same way about Rice. But, bottomline is that he's in, congrats to him. BTW, the "mystery player" is Dave Parker. Loved the Cobra.:thumb:

January 15, 200917 yr I always found this interesting. Rickey has been called the most dominating leadoff hitter in MLB history. And with good reason; his combination of speed and power at leadoff is unmatched. The folks that didn't vote for him may need to have their heads examined. But who, for example, is the most dominating 6-hole hitter in MLB history? 7-hole? I don't know, either.
