Corbin 67 Bell County 42

Recommended Posts

Looks like 25 is the magic number. 70-45 in game 1 and 67-42 in game 2. I can promise that Bell will get better so if these two teams cross paths in the region, Corbin better not take these two whippins they've put on the Bobcats for granted. Great win again for the Hounds. Enjoy this win tonight and get ready for Williamsburg and LCA on Friday and Saturday. On paper both games appear to be mismatches but from LCA has played a tough schedule so their record will be a little misleading. I've not watched Williamsburg but they seem to be a scrappy bunch that plays all out. I hear they lack a true PG so Wilson should thrive. Can't take anyone for granted.

Unofficial scoring for Corbin

Smith - 18

Johnson - 15

Crawford - 11

Manns - 9

Wilson - 9

Looks like a good balanced scoring attack, they have several on the bench that can go for double figures at any time as well. I don't see Bell getting as good this year as many think they will, but thats just me.

Bell had too many turnovers and couldn't take advantage of the turnovers they created. Corbin has so many weapons that you cannot focus on just one player. Crawford, Johnson, Smith, Wilson, Manns, Crawford, etc. Josh Smith really played outstanding tonight.

The player for Bell who impressed me the most was the sophomore Madon. He played an excellent game on both ends of the floor. This kid has the potential to be a special player for Bell County before he finishes his time as a Bobcat. Bell will be better by the time the tournament rolls around and everyone gets on the same page.

I agree with you that Bell will be better. However, I think they need to learn how to use their physical gifts for them instead of against them. They are big, strong team that wastes a lot of fouls reaching and slapping. If they do this and improve ball movement and shot selection they will not be a team anyone will want to face come tournament time.

Madon will be a fine player. I watched him play about 5 times now and if his mental game catches up with his physical game (which it will - he's still learning) he will be one of the better players in the region over the next couple of years.

I agree with the majority of your comments, but I think tonight was an indication of the maturity level of the Hounds. It would have been very easy for them to take Bell lightly, but they didn't.

As far as Williamsburg goes, I think this will be the same type of test. On paper Corbin should take care of business. However, as we all know, the game isn't played on paper. Williamsburg has all the makings of a decent squad - good guards and size on the post. They are pretty much locked into the 4th seed in the district barring a couple of upsets so they have nothing to lose and I think Corbin can expect they get Williamburg's best shot.

You also called the LCA game right. CHS should win, but much like the Louisville Butler game their record is not indicative of their ability

Corbin is starting to look like they may very well be a pretty special team. Bell has a lot of work to do, but will improve. Corbin might be a 13th region team that could make some noise at Rupp if they can make it out of here.

I totally agree. Coach P has a very talented squad this season and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them playing Saturday morning come Sweet 16 time.

I did not make it to the game but listen on the radio. The 2 Corbin guys on the radio are top-notch. They do a great job. Corbin seems to be really putting it together. I think Bell will get the parts together too. They have a big one on Thursday night @ Harlan Co. I think Madon will see more time at PG and allow Zachary to play the 2 spot and free him up for more shots in the future.
