"Face of the Program"

I do agree that Tim is the face of Leslie County High School, the part that I don't agree with is Tim being one of the greatest athletes in H.S. sports history. Heck,I'm not even sure that he was one of the best football players in high school history. I.M.O. athlete describes a ton of people, not only in football, but in all sports.Yes,Tim was a great Q.B. ,but I.M.O. not the greatest athlete.:thumb:

So averaging over 30 ppg in basketball as a JR and SR, while being featured in Sports Illustrated while setting NATIONAL career records for passing yards, touchdowns, and completions doesn't qualify someone as one of the top high school athletes of all time? I would think that it would? He was USA Today player of the year in 1995. He made USA Today's 20th Anniversary All-USA team as the 1st team QB in 2001. ... How does that not make you one of the greatest high school football players of all time? That and he excelled at basketball. I guess I'm missing something.

Sounds like you did your homework, and I didn't. What do I know? Thanks for the info.

Bellevue- Fred Bernier

Player- Jon Sutkamp

Highlands- Coach Homer Rice

Player- Jared Lorenzen

Although Dale Mueller will eventually become the face after he wins another handfull or more of State Championships.

Qryche11, from many of your post, you sound like a Bellevue kid who moved the Cake town. I played with Jon and for coach Benier. I think Coach Baldridge should be considered because like what LeatherNeck said about Coach Homer Rice starting the Highlands program rolling, I believe that is what Baldridge did at Bellevue. He got us boys believing that we could win. I believe that around that time with both Baldridge and Bernier, there was lots of talent in town and that helped their coaching shine. If I remember correctly, and this is only my feelings, Baldridge left to coach at college and Bernier left when he saw the talent pool getting low. For that reason and because I think he got the ball rolling, I would consider Coach Bill Baldridge too.

Some in WK that I keep up with...

Mayfield: Jack Morris

Calloway Co. Pookie Jones or Josh McKeel

Murray: Preston "Ty" Holland

Yeagle and Harp.

Beatty has 7 state titles and one runner up, in 9 years as our head man.
