There are college teams that get a ring for going to a bowl game, but not necessarily win the game. If I am not mistaken Georgetown College got rings for being runner-up in 2002, maybe. I am not stating that as fact, but I believe I heard that somewhere... The ring is sacred. There was an article in ESPN The Magazine a few years back about championship rings. The article stated that a championship ring is to a guy, what an engagement ring is to a woman. If there is a championship ring in the room, chances are a guy will ask to see it....

 

Georgetown got rings for winning the conference. It probably said National Finalist on it because they were national finalists. College is different because winning the conference earns rings in college.

Any team can get rings. There is no "rule" that says only stat champions can buy rings. I'm sure Balfour, Josten's and Herff-Jones would love to see district champs, regional champs etc buy their products.

I know that my wife will be taking plenty of pictures, especially as he opens that box.

 

As far as runners-up, district champs, etc getting rings.....I don't think that there's anything wrong with that since the money for the rings either comes from family or donations......there really shouldn't be an issue with it.

Someone said the KHSAA chips in something on rings for the champions? Any truth in that?

I was talking to a kid on the Bell County team on thanksgiving, he told me what the full design for the ring was going to be, dont want to give it away though. I also asked him the questions about how their being paid for and he said the school boosters is chipping in and also a team sponsor is helping to cover the cost.

KHSAA doesn't chip in a dime.

Trinity Seniors design their ring each year. They generally have the players name, number, helmet logo and the number of championships included. The face of the ring is what changes each year. Last years ring had THS in the center surrounded by diamonds. Personally, I think it would be neat to see a 4 leaf clover as the center piece denoting the 4 peat. I will see soon enough since I have to buy another one for my son who was a Junior on this years team. Seems like it cost roughly $400 last year, but it's well worth it for the work he put into getting it.

I think the best championship rings I have seen are Fort Campbell's from last season. Really a great design, I wish I had the picture from one of the threads last year.
