New poll is out on calpreps. Holmes is the new #1. I'll let you find the rest on your own.

That should certainly quieten things down around here! The rankings look pretty good to me. Maybe some confidence has been restored in these rankings, I know that I have no problem with it.

A interesting stat I found....is they have GRC losses this year:

LOSSES: #173 Scott County (Georgetown, KY) (79-59), #966 Madison Central (Richmond, KY) (51-46), #3408 Mercer County (Harrodsburg, KY) (58-49)

The boys have not played Mercer Co this year....that is a girls score.... The only losses we have are to Scott Co and Madison Central.

There goes their creditability.........

GRC is not the only team with glitches like this. This site has very little credibility.

It seems like they know nothing about it. Ranking Boone 6th is crazy.

Boone has to be considered for top 20, but 6 is too high. Their only losses were 4 points to undefeated Eastern and the OT loss to 9-1 Trinity.

It would be interesting to see how accurate the calpreps, maxpreps,a nd BGP rankings were after last season. No poll is going to be 100% accurate, especially at this point in the season. For example, Highlands was ranked #18 in BGP based on beating Mason County, who was last year's state champ, and Highlands is not a top 20 team at this point and weren't even ranked in the top 2 in their own region by the local newspaper.

Calpreps and maxpreps attempts to take all opinion out and use strictly stats like scoring, record, strength of schedule, win/loss record of opponents, etc. BGP, on the other hand is all opinion of a few so-called "experts."

The college football BCS attempts to use results of both popular polls AND statistics.

I think that each poll identifies most of the good top 20 teams, but the order might be off a few spots for each team.

I'd put Elliott in the top 5 in the state, but I think Holmes is the top team at this point.

I would agree on both counts.

With a 6.6 rated schedule, compared to Holmes/Scott Co 19.6/19.3?

I guess the answer to being #1 (via Calpreps) is to play a weak schedule, beat those teams badly and lo and behold you get the ranked *1!

Elliot County has a very good team, but they give an entirely whole new meaning to Blowing out an inferior opponent. We traditionally think of a 30 point blowout as beating someone really bad and a 40 point blowout as destroying a team, but with Elliot County over the last couple years they have beat teams by 50, 60, 70 and even 80 points. This unfortunately for them does not mean that they are the best team in the state, but this year they just might be a cinderella type team that could win it all???? I know I may sound like I dont approve of them beating teams by ungodly amounts of points, but I do like their team and enjoy watching them play very much. Good luck this year!!!!

I'm a big fan of proving it on the court and so far Holmes has earned the top spot. :thumb:

Actually 68 points is the most they have beaten someone by, but have beaten several by 50 plus.

Glad we've finally come to terms on that issue. Good luck to you and EC the rest of the season. Hopefully we meet up at some point down the road in March. :thumb:

I just hope these two teams are in opposite brackets. Either of these two teams are my picks to win it all.:thumb:

I agree...but Goldie, there's a team down there in Winchester that could make a lot of noise come March. They seem to really be hitting their stride lately.
