Elliott County ranked #1 by calpreps.com

Polls like this are often inaccurate at the beginning of the year.

They tend to even out as the season develops.

I remember everybody getting upset about Dave Cantrall's rankings a few years ago around this point of the season. Polls that are based off of formulas need some time to function properly.

WE will take the no 1 spot . ! ! !

I lost all respect with this poll when they had Hazard ranked at #62, and some teams that they had ranked in front of them.....

Does this Poll really mean anything.

Lets be honest, these young men at Elliott have worked hard and stayed in a system and been loyal to finish their High School Career at Elliott. These polls means nothing.

These young men have a goal and that is to win a State Championship, anything else is coming up short.

Is Elliott good enough to accomplish that? We will see in due time.

Not bashing on Elliot County, but what does the west coast know about Kentucky highschool basketball.

It seems like they know nothing about it. Ranking Boone 6th is crazy.

We could also ask the same question, but limit it only to within the borders of Kentucky. Also, the ratings in question is a computer generated statistical model and will become more accurate as the season progresses, but we will always have the human factor, so on any given night we can throw out the ratings. I realize that there are teams which couldn't win against a much better class if they played 5 against 3 but these rating will become more indicative of a team's chances of winning the state tournament as the season progresses.

And I say it once again, sounds like the BCS to me.

Not taking anything away from Elliot Co. They are a great team, but these rankings are not what most observers would consider accurate.

This site also has Franklin County having a loss to Clarkrange, Tennessee. The Flyers have not played them this year. As pointed out earlier how can a website out of California rank Kentucky teams. Oh well everyone is entitled to their opinion.

This poll is a joke. J'town not in the top 5?

From what I read in these threads CalP doesn't have a clue and Elliott is not a top ten team in the state so All you guys from the "almighty" 7th, 9th, 11th regions can rest easy. There is no way Elliott Co will be a threat to your team if they should meet. You can now call off the dogs and give them a rest.

One thing that everyone needs to understand ... these computer rankings count every game equally, so Hazard's ranking has several games factored in that were when they were missing their football players. Jeffersontown's games are weighted toward those that were played without Aaron Cosby.

Maybe the CalPreps local scouting office is in Sandy Hook?? :D

Seriously, its got to be hard to try and evaluate high school teams from across the country; especially when the in-state polls conflict so often?? I'm guessing EC is a top 5, certainly top 10 team in the state; and this will be all sorted out in March!!
