February 3, 200917 yr That's not a fair comment. I know the child and the program. I think Johnson Central is doing it the right way by playing together. Last time I checked no one really cares who wins in AAU. I think a trip to the state tournament would be much more important for him and Johnson Central. I do think he might be available for the DI nationals if someone picked him up. Hall can really play but I like what they are doing, you will see Johnson Central in the sweet sixteen in a few years. I agree with you about school teams playing together for a better HS teams. If a player can play with a D1 AAU team as well it helps him. Good players need to play against bigger, faster, stronger players. Playing against better players that will push him in games and practice. It helps the player get exposure and get exposed to see what part of his game needs work. The player dose not have to be the best player on the floor every time out. In Middle School thats the problem with these type players the develop bad habits because their so much better than who their playing against their no fundamentals involved to win games. Some players can play very well in their area of the state and region...but when exposed to top D1 AAU teams and talent they seem to fade. Top D1 AAU talent and teams speed is different on a national level. To have this kid play with a D1 AAU team would only help the Player and Johnson Central. He can play with his school team as well through the year. I know people who have ordained a player being the best in the state until he gets to play top talent and can't compete at that level. If this kid is that talented he needs to find a good D1 program to play with as well as his school team.
February 4, 200917 yr Author I slightly disagree, some players are tremendous in a system but can't get enough touches in AAU DI basketball, especially bigger kids. AAU is a guard dominated form of basketball that really shows the skills of perimiter players and sometimes bigs, if they are in the right AAU system. Also, a player must be comfortable to play their best.
February 4, 200917 yr In all honesty an Eastern Kentucky kid has to play in Rupp Arena(Sweet Sixteen) to get much pub. We have alot more kids than just one and are keeping our kids together and getting all of them alot of games. We got in over 100 games last year and hoping to do the same this year. We are also puting together a 6th grade team and going to travel with them this year also. We (Johnson Central) really hope to get our AAU program going strong. We want to be in the Sweet Sixteen every year. We want to be able to reload every year, not just make it to the show every 5 years. Our kids play up alot. I think this will really help out alot.

I see both points on this issue. But, I do definitely commend you guys for your commitment to the kids at Johnson Central. It will definitely show up down the road. Now, back to 7th grade and the Hall kid. I am really looking forward to watching him (and your entire team) play this weekend. I would love nothing better than to see Johnson Central and Scott County match up in the Final 8. Would be a great matchup between Portwood and Hall. But, the best part is I highly doubt the winner of the game comes down to who wins that battle, it would come down to the supporting cast. And, that's what a team game should be about. Good luck this weekend! Well, at least until the potential Final 8 game (lol) ....

I don't coach these kids in Middle school ball, but I will be there to watch. I coach Johnson County 7th AAU and I am coordinator for all ages. We have a bunch of teams started.
February 4, 200917 yr I would sure like to know if Conner is not going to participate. It would change our travel plans and really help reduce costs. Let me know what you hear. I was told yesterday that Connor is playing this weekend.
February 4, 200917 yr I was told yesterday that Connor is playing this weekend. Really? How are they going to manage playing in two tournaments on Saturday in different locations? I believe their conference tournament starts on Saturday too.

I do know that in some Schools their players play Baseball, Football and can't play all summer. Why would it hurt a player sold out to play basketball. find a AAU program to be a part of... to continue to play through out the year. Keep up the good work Anvil Head and JC. I hope to see you in the Sweet Sixteen. :thumb: Every AAU basketball team I know of is always looking for big men. The only reason it's guard dominated is they make up the majority of a team is because of " the lack of big men. I don't see why it hurts to play both...with your school and a good AAU program. Getting in the right system is what success is all about...if they play Recreation, Elementary School, Middle School, High School , College or even Pro's. Sometime players feel uncomfortable because the size and speed as well, as system. This is only a opinion...like is the glass half full or half empty. Is it off White or Cream color.
February 4, 200917 yr Some of the better play in games on Friday should be: Clinton Co. vs Conner Knox Co. vs Bowling Green Gray vs Northern Mason Co. vs Meece Royal Springs vs Anderson Co.
February 4, 200917 yr No stand out first round games that I can see. Possibly: Georgetown vs Knox Co./Bowling Green loser Southern vs Royal Springs/ Anderson Co. loser Elkhorn vs Royal Springs/ Anderson Co. winner
February 4, 200917 yr The round of 32 is where things start to get interesting: Fleming vs Southern (Southern is good enough to get the upset) Clay Co. vs Wayne Co. Walton Verona vs Meece (should be the game to watch)
February 4, 200917 yr The round of 32 is where things start to get interesting: Fleming vs Southern (Southern is good enough to get the upset) Clay Co. vs Wayne Co. Walton Verona vs Meece (should be the game to watch) IMO, Walton vs Meece will be the game to watch. The good players...Dishman, McNiel, and Moeves may offset one another. It might come down to the other starters or someone off the bench. Like Tyler Dishman or Grant Moeves.

So is the starting center for Meece.
