Which name would that be? The name that I have heard a little bit is interesting. Some would say it's impossible, some would claim that it is unlikely. Some sports writers have even went so far as to guarantee it. I don't know im just throwing it out there.

IMO, they would first start off working the Urban Meyer angle one last time. He stated it was his dream job, and according to an article in a florida paper last week, the reason he didn't take the job the last time was that his children were so young. His son is the youngest and is now like 13 or so, so maybe the Irish could persuade him. The author of the new Meyer biography was quoted in the same article as saying that he thought Meyer would take the job the next time it was offered. Things are different as well now. He is a coaching star. Had he went to ND right after his stint at Utah, it would have been tougher to build the program back up. Now, he can recruit not only on the presige of the Notre Dame program, but with the NAME that he has built. Kids want to play for this guy.

But, I'm still skeptical. Why would you leave a program that is improving, has a chance to win a title this year and next (if tebow stays)? Also the SEC is starting to shift possibly. Yes, Saban will have Alabama tough every year....BUT, Les Miles' Tigers aren't looking to promising for the next few seasons, Georgia won't win the league until they get rid of Bobo at OC, Auburn is a mess, and Tennessee is a joke, especially if they do hire Kiffin IMO. The up and coming teams are Ole Miss, UK, and Vandy for cryin out loud. Also, there are more talented top level players in florida and the south in general than in the mid-west.

But, ND is ND. They recruit nationally, their always a few spots higher in the polls than they should be, they have the best deal for the BCS. Meyer, a devout catholic from the midwest, will have the first offer. Whether he takes it or not I don't know..... I WOULDN'T.

As for Charlie Weis being fired, IF I'M NOTRE DAME I GET RID OF HIM. Good recruiter, but so is Ron Zook. How's that workin out for him this year? Best case you steal away a top big name coach like Meyer (i say unlikely). WORST CASE you can go after either of the two big up and comers in the coaching fraternity, Kelly as mentioned or my personal favorite Peterson from Boise. There is plenty of talent on the roster even if it is young, a decent coach would have won no less than 8 or 9 games with that pathetic excuse for a schedule.

Coaching searches/changes are not fun. Give him more time.

I started a thread like this weeks ago. Chuck just doesn't develope kids into players. He needs to go back to NFL and be an OC. Some guys just aren't good head coaches, but are great assistants.

All I've heard is how good his recruits have been, if that is the case they should allow him at least one more year, it's hard to win with a bunch of young players. I also want to see BK at the helm of the UC program for at least one more year.

God, I don't want to see BK go to ND, or that will be another coach that "I used to like"...
