Just lost to a 20pt underdog at home. He is now 28-20 as the head football coach of the Irish. He has the same winning % that Davie had and only a few points higher than Ty. Also he has now lost to Air Force, Navy and Syracuse at home.

So should Charlie Weis be fired?

I enjoy seeing Notre Dame lose and struggle. Same way as the Yankees, Dallas Cowboys and the Lakers. Love it when they lose.

Keep him so they can do it some more.

This should be the most unanimous poll we've ever had on here, but there are still the Weis apologists that will defend him to no end.

I really rather they keep him for another year or two so BK stays at UC a little while to get the changes needed completed... :D

He loves ND at heart and is all about the tradition. Unfortunately, he doesn't know how to be an actual head football coach.

So is it safe to assume that if the ND job came open, there would be about a 100% chance Kelly takes it?

I defended him up until the Navy game.

What really made me mad is the week of the Navy game he makes it public that he will be calling the plays from now on, basically humiliating Haywood, and then they squek one against Navy and lose to Syracuse.

I voted no only because I am a big believer in giving a coach 5 years. I worked for Rich Brooks!

I heard Haywood had a death in the family before the Navy game, and Pear Bryant was only taking over to give him time to be with family...

As a fan at this point I would be fine with letting him go, however, giving him one more year would be acceptable as well. His first really good class are just Sophmores, the Freshman class has a lot of talent, I look for them to only get better, he has another really good class put together at this point. The only place where Weis has consistently missed in recruiting is on the DL and that has shown to be a big problem on the field.

With the exception of Willingham Notre Dame has normally given every coach 5 years to build their team. At this point in time the difference between Weis and Willingham is that with Ty the recruiting was so poor that there was no feeling that things could get better with experience maturity etc. To some extent the lack of a solid Senior class still hurts this team. Although many of you on here will never admit it, I believe that Washington's preformance (or lack thereof) under Ty Willingham justifies that his firing after only three years was warranted.

Despite tremendous recruiting classes, Weis hasn't shown that he can develope players and I think some of his play calling is suspect. I'm not sure why the players on campus have not been able to generate better results on the field. Weis's offense is said to be a complicated pro-style system. Maybe it's just not suited to the college game where the NCAA mandates the time allowed for instruction with players, whereas the NFL they could spend an unlimited amount of time working things out. Perhaps what some say about the scouting services is true that they over value the potential of Notre Dame targets because they know it will help sell magazines, etc.

Realistically, I do not look for any changes in Weis's employment this offseason. If they buyout is anything near what is is rumored to be I don't know that the current economic conditions would lend to boosters ponying up the cast at this moment. In addition I don't really see a long line of applicants forming upon the position opening up. Perhaps GT is correct in that Brian Kelly would give it serious consideration.

Either way I will continue to suport the Irish win or lose. Next week will likely be ugly.

All I heard was CW come out and say he would be calling the plays. It looked like a tacky move to me after being shut out and then going on to play Navy and Syracuse.

He'd be out the door the second the phone rang. And I'm fine with that.

BK will be the next coach at ND, I just hope it's another year or two down the road... :D

I would be mad if the job was open and Notre Dame didn't go with Kelly. But does anyone think Skip Holtz would be in the running?

I think the biggest problem with how Weis recruits is backwards when complaining about recruiting rankings. I think his staff spends too much time going after who they are told is good over doing the evaluations themselves.

It's like how I recruit on NCAA video games. Go hard after the top rated kids that show any interest...

No. Should be BK in quick fashion...
