CovCath did not have their game tonight. Honestly, the brightest spot was Bright [i think that is his name] punting. He had some nice ones! It is a shame the seniors had to go on a loss like this, but sometimes that is how it goes.

 

Johnson Central has a great running game, but IMO Highlands is going to bring it to them next week. And they should. It came off to me that JC was a bit overconfident, and I am pretty sure Highlands is just the remedy for that.

 

As for a poster saying CCH would not have been able to beat the teams in the 1a, 2a whatever districts down there...ya'll saw a bad game from CCH. I have looked at the schedule your team played, and CCH wouldn't have too much of a problem. Teams have bad nights, and they did. Johnson Central would have pulled this one out no matter what however; because our defense had no way of stopping the run. They struggled with it the entire season. Good luck next week, you're going to need it I think!

BTW had the pleasure to talk to a lot of the JC folks prior to the game and not a single one came off overconfident, but by the end of the first quarter, yes they were a confident bunch, but then again they had a reason to be.

Again the huge reason for the off night for CovCath was JC! Nothing more nothing less as JC was by far the better team on the field....

 

 

IMO the turning point in the game was after JC scored their first TD! CovCath was moving the ball on the ground and were on their way to tie the score when CovCath threw a INT. If CovCath scores, three things happen, of course the score is tied, but CovCath gain some confidence in themselves and also puts some doubt into JC! From that point on however, CovCath was doubting everything they did and lost confidence in themselves and you could just see the confidence growing in JC....

They had 11 and would have had the coaches if they could. Very dominating performace by JC. This CC was not anywhere near the 06 team. From what I saw tonight, CC would have finished fourth in our district and several 3A, 2A and a few 1A teams in our area could beat them.

 

Van Sant is awesome, great speed.

JC has looked great, but have they faced a team in HHS class this season?

I wouldn't call 118 yards passing when you rush for 263 moving it thru the air. Woodford's QB passed for over 1600 yds this year, but they only had 108 against Cov Cath. You could tell they have some pretty decent receivers after the catch. I think Cov Cath still wins, but it is alot closer.

 

Not so much about the yardage(118), but more about being 9 of 13. I agree that the weather stunk, but when CCH needed to throw the ball, they did it with no problem.

From a positive CCH perspective, I do appreciate how game in and game out opponents and their fans commented on the play of Pat Van Sant. The kid could start for anybody, and I am sure his football career is not over.

 

Pat, you will get your state championship in June!

 

Very good player but from my view could not understand why they didn't get him involved more. Maybe some end arounds or even put him in the backfield and let him run. I think they may have run one end around. They would fake it to him but never gave it to him. Good luck to Van Sant in the future.:thumb:

This score was very suprising to me until I looked up CC record and seen were they got beat by Highlands them by 61-0.:eek::eek: Good win for JCHS and good luck next week.

 

It was 55-0 at halftime. TAlk about EEEEEEK. They could have scored 100 pts if they wanted.

 

Congrats to JC for the big home victory. Anything can happen in the playoffs and they definitely should be proud of a great season so far. They will have their hands full next week though.

The paper had JC with 680 yards rushing.

 

I'll go on record as saying that's a record against a CCH team.

From what I heard from a close source who was at the game:

 

 

Offensively CCH could have moved the ball through the air had the receivers made a few routine catches but kids make mistakes. Nothing you can do about it. Several fumbles hurt the Colonels when they were in the Eagles territory threatening to score. Covcath was able to run with a little success but again, turnovers and fumbles hurt them.

I agree completely, game can't be blammed on one kid.

Although, I just think JC was just overall better, so CCHS playing a great game wouldn't have won this one, IMO.
