This score was very suprising to me until I looked up CC record and seen were they got beat by Highlands them by 61-0.:eek::eek: Good win for JCHS and good luck next week.

Just getting home and I am far too tired to post anything about the game, but before I hit the bed I must give out a huge thank you to the folks from Johnson Central! Without a doubt you all are the perfect host, thanks from Mark, the J-man and Theoldguy for being so nice to us.

 

HHS fans, please come down to Paintsville to see this game as you are in for a huge treat next week getting to play in a place that not only offer true hospitality but some great football too! Again thanks to all the people at Johnson Central HS..... Hopefully some time in the future we can pay you back for your kindness and friendship to us from NKy.

CovCath did not have their game tonight. Honestly, the brightest spot was Bright [i think that is his name] punting. He had some nice ones! It is a shame the seniors had to go on a loss like this, but sometimes that is how it goes.

 

Johnson Central has a great running game, but IMO Highlands is going to bring it to them next week. And they should. It came off to me that JC was a bit overconfident, and I am pretty sure Highlands is just the remedy for that.

 

As for a poster saying CCH would not have been able to beat the teams in the 1a, 2a whatever districts down there...ya'll saw a bad game from CCH. I have looked at the schedule your team played, and CCH wouldn't have too much of a problem. Teams have bad nights, and they did. Johnson Central would have pulled this one out no matter what however; because our defense had no way of stopping the run. They struggled with it the entire season. Good luck next week, you're going to need it I think!

From what I heard from a close source who was at the game:

 

Covcath was completely out matched on the defensive side of the ball. They would have 9 in the box and blitz everyone and once the RB got past the line of scrimmage is was off to the races since there were only 2 defenders left and they were being blocked by receivers. (Hence the long TD runs) When JC was actually forced to sustain a long drive, CCH would get the ball back. If you force them to pass, good things will happen. The one pass JC threw resulted in a Int.

 

Offensively CCH could have moved the ball through the air had the receivers made a few routine catches but kids make mistakes. Nothing you can do about it. Several fumbles hurt the Colonels when they were in the Eagles territory threatening to score. Covcath was able to run with a little success but again, turnovers and fumbles hurt them.

 

JC runs a very similar offense to the Colerain Cardinals and they aren't huge, but have a nice size team.

 

Congrats to the JC Golden Eagles. I for one didn't think you'd win and if you did it'd be a close game, but you proved all the critics wrong. Good luck next week against my Birds.
