3rd round most likely against Johnson Central but honestly if the Birds bring their game they will have no trouble with them. After that I really only think that Bowling Green has a shot against them but yet again if Highlands comes to play, they should win.

Highlands, this year, seems to be on a level of their own, compareable to Trinity and St. X. Barring any major injuries, Highlands should grab #18 this year.

If JC gets past CovCath/Woodford winner, they get to host the Birds. This could be a barn burner. If not, Highlands will be home until they travel to the winner of the other side of the bracket. That side seems to be up in the air.

JC is pretty solid. Does JC and Highlands have any common opponents?

They will. Highlands plays Bryan Station Friday and JC beat them by 4, 35-31 earlier in the year at JC

This is as close as I could come. I am not sure it tells much, but it is the best I can do. Like RR said, Friday might be telling. If the Birds win big, it will not bode well, for JC.

Highlands 46 Madison Central 0

Johnson Central 35 Bryan Station 31

Of all the opponents in 5A, I think the one that scares me most is John Hardin. I know that back in 2005 (when they were in old 4A) they were very good and gave an undefeated Saint X all they wanted and more in the playoffs (losing by one point)... that memory has stuck with me since JH has come into 5A with Highlands.

A big X factor for Highlands (and indeed any team) is injuries. For the state champ and runner-up, there are STILL FIVE GAMES LEFT TO PLAY... THAT'S ONE-THIRD OF THE ENTIRE SEASON+POSTSEASON!!!! Highlands seems like they are definitely tops in 5A RIGHT NOW, but God forbid the 'Birds get unlucky and have some key injuries in early playoff games, and everything can change. Of course, injuries can hurt any team, but when you consider that HHS is the clear frontrunner right now, any potential unknowns (like injuries) will have a relatively bigger impact on the frontrunner, since it upsets the status quo.

Heck, injury HAS been the status quo! (Josh Conner). But as LN would preach "Assess, Adapt, Overcome".

Their biggest challenge will come from traffic control at PJCS when they are trying to leave after the title game.

Scribe, you are killing me. :D

I still say we are going to have a real challenge right off the bat from Bryan Station.

My goodness LN, he does pay attention to you!

Outside of a match up with John Hardin or Bowling Green in the finals, I really don't see anyone in the district or region rounds coming close to the Birds.

Highlands is ATLEAST 3 TD's better than every other 5A school in KY IMHO.

(MY post will be quoted and a sand-bagging LN will have something to say in 5-4-3-2-1.....:D;))

Crud, I missed the count down. :D

Don't see a team staying within 5 TDs of them.
