Biased Election Coverage

Featured Replies

Last night, as soon as the polls closed, I flipped back and forth between stations trying to find unbiased election coverage. I got so frustrated, I ended up watching a cable show and occasionally turning to see results.

Whatever happend to TV covering the news? All three major stations were so strongly Democratic, they practically announced the winner before the polls closed.

Katie Couric is the worst. She should be a politician.

Obviously, I am not a Democrat.

I know this nothing new, but it seems to get more obvious with each election.

I intentionally watched Fox News last night to get "their take" on events. I heard the same thing. I don't thing it was the coverage, I think it was the reality of election.

I disagree. I think TV newspeople have been pro-Democrat throughout this entire election.

Havent' been watching Fox News have you?

Just out of curiosity what do you think should have been said when the polls closed and the data was available to make a call?

It is not what should have been said....more like what was wrong with what was said BEFORE data was made available to make a REAL call.....and how it was said.

Very early I repeatedly heard......Obama only needs x amount of electoral votes to be president.........This state voted Obama.....this same state has almost always predicted the winner of the election.....things like this. For me, it is probably aggravated by the pre-election bias that also went on.

The coverage almost seemed like I was at an Obama victory party instead of watching news coverage.

And you are right, I did not tune into Fox....I was interested in the results of local elections as well.

There were well founded reasons that led them to declare the election pretty much as soon as the polls opened in California, as there are reasons for any state they call. 2000 was one of the few, if not only years that I can recall them getting something wrong. Exit polls, demographics, etc. guide them and they are almost always right.

I remember them saying something about Missouri always voting for the one that won. Isn't this like the second time in x number of years they've missed it?

I felt there was less bias this year than in 2000 and 2004

You hit it perfectly.:thumb:

There was biased on every channel - one way or the other. Just please get rid of Keith Olberman and Bill O'Reilly.

At least O'Reilly will give those who oppose him airtime and talk with them. Obama's appearance on O'Reilly actually helped him.

As far as Olberman, he was so giddy last night he could hardly contain himself. I expect him to be wearing a 'Mission Accomplished" shirt until the President elect Obama is sworn in.

I agree with you there. Olberman is by far the worst I have ever seen. He ranks below Dan Rather. YIKES!

George Stephanopoulos on ABC was unbearable.

Yeah, he is pretty bad.

Yeah, he is pretty bad.

You could see his smile getting bigger as he was saying how unlikely it was for McCain to win.

He reminded me of Jack Frost in Santa Clause 3 when he was scheming to take over.
