Lloyd 28 Holmes 19

Featured Replies

I almost got this one right.

Two teams going in complete opposite directions. Holmes hasn't scored in three weeks but are in the playoffs. Lloyd is averaging a bit over 20 pts/game, Holmes has won all three games in which they have posted over 20. The streak ends here:

Lloyd 28

Holmes 21

Good win for the Juggs. Holmes is really in a downward spiral since they lost Hocker on the defensive line and their starting Qb Riley for the season.

I thought Holmes would turn it around here, but I was wrong. Good win for the Juggs over a 5A team.

It's a shame to see Holmes not perform. Are they still depleted>

Coach Lickert of Holmes has things going in the right direction. Sometimes when it comes to changing the culture of a team it costs in the W and L column. But the ending rewards will be far greater in the years to come. It would be easy for the Bulldogs to shut it down but its nice that they still have the heart to compete.

Congrats to my good friend Coach Lucas and the Juggs!!!! Way to TCB.:dancingpa

From what I know they were without starting Qb Riley, starting DL Hocker, starting LB Courtney, starting S Englemon, and I believe they were without a starting receiver who are all out for the season with injuries.

This is a good win for Lloyd but they beat a Holmes team who was without 5 starters who are all impact players.

Nice win Juggs.

Lloyd's Starting QB, WR, and MLB are all out for the season. All were playmakers for Lloyd too. So all in all, it was equal. Two of them would play college ball. I really doubt injuries played a factor in who won. Lloyd was the better team and it clearly showed, no excuses.

Not making any excuses. Lloyd clearly was the better team THAT NIGHT. But if you honestly think Lloyd wins against the same Holmes team who pounded HC, then you're sadly mistaken. Lloyd's back up Qb is heads and shoulders above Holmes back up qb that's playing for Riley.

The MLB that was out for Holmes was the leading tackler for them.

The starting DT, Hocker can't be replaced on the line by anyone else on the team. Hocker is 6'1 240 and IMO would have made it much tougher for Lloyd to run the ball as he had a big game last year when Holmes beat the Juggs. The kid who replaced him was 5'6 185 lbs. Again, no comparison in the back ups.

The Safety who was out, Englemon, was leading the team in INT's and the receiver who was out was leading the team in ypg, catches, and td's.

I doubt very seriously Lloyd beats Holmes with those players all healthy and playing. There's a much bigger drop off in Holmes' back ups than Lloyd's.

Brendon Gregory is 6'4 210 Lbs, and would have went D-1. Jake Kramer is 6'3 175 Lbs, and would have went D-1. Andrew Brinkman is 5'11 195 Lbs, and could have went D-2. Brinkman was the teams leading tackler before he broke his jaw. Roger Herthel will go D-1 and he's still not even 100 percent yet after his knee surgery. If both teams had no injuries, the result would be exactly the same, if not worse for Holmes. Holmes lost to a much smaller school, and you're trying to make excuses for it. BTW, last year Holmes had two special teams TD's which is why they won. Offensively and defensively, they were equal.

Guess we'll just have to consider this a moot point since we'll never know. But as far as Lloyd having 3 D1 players I doubt that very seriously. Do you realize what it takes to play D1 football? Guidugli, Collinsworth, Conner, and Dempsey are probably the only kids on Highlands team who will go D1 and the kids you mentioned are no where near the level that those are.

I played at UC back in my day as a preferred walk on and it takes a lot more than size to play at the D1 level. I'm sure those kids are nice players but doubt very seriously all 3 of them have/had D1 potential.

Gregory could have gone Division 1 (Still could) but it would not have been as a QB (IMO) But more probably a Tight End. As for the Herthel kid, he is pretty good and pretty fast, but not very tall, I don't know if he even gets a D-2 look. That is nothing aginst him, as the last person stated, you have to be exceptional to get a D-1 scholarship or exceptionally large. But I hope they all get a chance to play at the next level. Look at the guys who are performing for Thomas More who played in Northern Kentucky. Those were some very, very good High School Players. Playing Division 3, which if you have seen a D-3 game there are some great players, its hard to play at that level as well!!

But congrats jugs and best of luck the rest of the year!!!
