Way to avoid the question. And yes, you are correct, I do not listen to ANYTHING GWB or his admin says. When someone goes on national TV and says.. "Disarm.. or WE WILL DISARM you.." yet we don't find not even one WMD, not even with a pair of long horns on them.. I refuse to listen to anything further they say. If you can lie to me about someone having weapons of mass destruction, chances are you will convince me of anything.

Time will tell if he was a good President. If democracy takes in Iraq and spreads to other countries in the middle East (bringing stability to a region that had consumed way too many of our resources) he will be judged a great President. If democracy fails in Iraq, he will be judge a complete failure. I think he realized the gamble and went with the choice. Big kahoonahs!

I have disagreed immensely with a lot of Bush's policies. I think that his direction has helped cause the partisan divide we are in, where nothing good gets accomplished.

 

That being said, Bush has been dealt a hard hand to play. Instead of folding it, he has shoved all his chips in time and time again. Bush isn't afraid to do the unpopular decision if he feels it is right and he is a man who stands by his convictions. I have a lot of respect for Bush. I would also vote for Bush over McCain and Obama in a heartbeat, but I would not vote for him again. I do not regret my vote. I just don't feel it would be the right thing to do again.

 

As far as an overall judgement of his presidency, I feel it is much to early to do that, though I believe time will most likely be very favorable for him. The issue that I believe could potentially cripple his "legacy" is the bailout.

My biggest issue is his "big kahoonas". Maybe it appeals to those who want to appear a military might, and the global police, but I don't think it's prudent at all to not use good judgement and patience, and to simply do the "macho" thing and take military action. I firmly believe diplomacy is a characteristic seriously lacking in Bush's tenure.
