Class was intense today.

Talking about the US move towards socialism. How white conservatives are just scared of Obama because he's black and an alleged muslim, how certain democrats aren't liberal enough, and are more like republicans posing as democrats, etc etc. We definitely had an eventful day in the class room. Yelling, cursing, laughing, mocking.

Ah I feel as though I truely learned something today. How dumb people can get when discussing politics.

His whole first post was an example.....

Funny you mention it SF41, we discussed that same topic in my economics class today....

Was this a high school class? I've had eventful discussions in college, but never laughing and mocking each other.

I had a few classes that ended up this way back in '04.

This is good news... the natives are growing restless.

No it's a college class. One kid seriously said he was done with the college that he couldn't stand how ignorant and stupid everyone in the class is.

See it's a very interesting make up, there's a few that I've had other PSC classes with that are pretty hard core liberal, borderline extremist in some aspects, the type that I wouldn't be at all surprised about to see in the news. Then there is a pocket of moderate to liberal, along with some history majors, some conservatives, and finally some people that just don't know how they feel about everything yet, which is why they're in college. Needless to say I'm waiting for a punch to get thrown before it's all said and done.

I was in a class like that at UK many moons ago.

The professor and I disagreed quite frequently. Being in my 30's and the others being typical college students scared for their grade, I would take up the mantle to call him out on his positions.

Our last disagreement ended with him saying, "You would make a great neighbor but I am glad you are not running things."

I thought it was an odd statement.

He would love for me to be his neighbor but not want to live in the life I would create. Very odd.

The class is certainly entertaining. If nothing else it makes me want to pay attention so that when the arguing, I mean umm debating starts, I know what it's over. The professor has some followers in there and he's definitely pretty liberal. It's just an entertaining class altogether.

What class is it? I may have to take it as an elective next semester....:D

To quote Lewis Black:

And I know this because I took economics, and I'd explain it to yea'... but I flunked that course. Not my fault. They taught it at 8 o'clock in the morning. And there is absolute nothing that you can learn out of one bloodshot eye.

Good fences make good neighbors.

I am glad you students are debating these things. And now, you have this site and the sheer brilliance of some of its membership to support you!

Seriously, though, do not back down from those debates, stand your ground, and remain respectful.

Good advice, but often difficult!
