October 22, 200817 yr Yes the Presidential election is in two weeks. I just got to thinking that with all the bickering back and forth that is never ending that there is one thing that we ALL can agree on. That is the fact that on Nov. 5th we not only will have new President we will be done with all the political phone calls (most of which are recordings), all the t.v. comercials that have flooded the t.v. :fight:and driven everyone insane. I will at least be happy about that fact.

My only guess is like paper work or something. Maybe someone could tell us why.

I believe it's done to give the new president time to get ready. Hire staff, setup cabinets, etc. You can't just get elected and be ready to move into the White House the next day. And sometimes the election is not resolved right after the election.....like in 2000. Sometimes votes need to be recounted, etc.

They used to switch power in March.

October 22, 200817 yr Author I was just talking about all the commercials, phone calls, mailngs and all of that junk stopping, not about when they change power.
October 22, 200817 yr Yep, didn't the switch happen with FDR's second term? For what it's worth, and I know it will come as a shock to most people on here in regards to my knowledge of history, but I don't remember off the top of my head.
October 22, 200817 yr I feel like everytime I see that Victoria Wulsen commercial (ohio congress hopeful) she is scolding me like my 3rd grade teacher did back in 1979 and I never got over it. The look on her face when she is speaking is like she is going to come through the TV after you. I would love to see her and Jean Schmidt in a cage match just slugging it out. Sorry all you central/Eastern/Western KY folks as this commercial runs in the NKY market but this woman looks crazy.

It shows him digging a hole while released criminals walk by. When the one jailbird stops, reaches down, and shakes "Jack's" hand and says, "Thanks Jack!" it cracks me up every time.
