October 22, 200817 yr I find it alarming how many people there are that are just like you then. I have so many people that have told me they took exams and have been waiting for ages to hear back. I've always felt the USPS is almost some sort of scan artist when it comes to their employment because there are always these advertisements that tell you they will tain you to take the exams and you get phone calls from people saying they are from a certain company that offers the best advice for gaining employment at the USPS, I mean (with no offense) they aren't Doctors and I have always gotten the impression of such strenious exams with no results.

October 22, 200817 yr FF went to apply b/c he is a veteran and can get on rather quickly and they told him that it would be 6 months before they ever even looked at the exams after they were taken. That was about 3 months ago when he was told that. He never applied.

October 22, 200817 yr I took an exam back in May, and am still waiting to hear from them. My wife is a Supervisor with the USPS. She has been there 20+yrs. Great job with exceptional retirement and benefits.

There is discussion of job cuts and early retirement packages being offered. There is also other job change discussion that I can't discuss at this time. They will continue to hire even with all the possible cutbacks but most will be rural route carrier jobs. The rural route employees, have their own Union that represents rural route employees only (seperate from the USPS Union )providing they are what the USPS considers a full time RCA (Rural Carrier Associate) An RCA employee has the ability to become a full time USPS employee. When job openings occur RCA's usually are the first to be offered the open position if someone within doesn't accept the postion open. If an RCA doesn't take the job then it is offered to someone on the hire list based on their test score placement. Veterans of the military receive bonus pts along with their test score. I would recommend to take the test if you have an oportunity to do so. At least you will have your name on the list.

The advertisements you see in the newspapers are scams. The USPS does not advertise in the news paper for jobs. The adds you see have nothing to do with the USPS. The only way to apply for a job with the USPS is on line or by calling 1-478-757-3199 You must start the application process there. http://www.usps.com http://www.usps.gov

Did you take the exam through the USPS or through an advertisement from a local newspaper? If you tested through the USPS and have not heard from them you can go on line and get some info about your test results.
