October 23, 200817 yr The Post Office is getting ready to lay off a bunch of people, seriously doubt they're in a rush to hire anyone. I have 2 buddies that live in EKY and they have been cut back a bunch. One who has work at his job for about 4-5 years and he has been cut from 40 to about 24 hours a week.
October 23, 200817 yr Author It usually takes 8wks to receive your test score. Did you take the exam through the USPS or through an advertisement from a local newspaper? If you tested through the USPS and have not heard from them you can go on line and get some info about your test results. Go to one of the links below and in the search area, type in jobs and follow instructions. This number may also help. 1-478-757-3199. http://www.usps.gov http://www.usps.com I took it through the post office, and received my scores a while back. Just didn't know how long it actually took.
October 23, 200817 yr I took an exam back in May, and am still waiting to hear from them. They probably mailed the response you are waiting for but it got lost in the mail. Ironic? Yes.

I have a good friend that has been there for ever. The way I understand it you pretty much have to score near perfect on the test even have a shot at a job. They usually take military first then what ever position are left go to the top scorers. I know people that have scored 95 and above and still didn't get a job. Some times it just depends on when you apply too.

Career employees would be the last to go. I'm a retired postal employee and their CBA'S have built in job security for career employees.

I know the Henderson post office at times employees quite a few casual employees. They are almost always short handed. My friend that works there gets all the over time he wants. He generally makes $20,000 - $30,000 extra in over time per year.
