Simon Kenton 40 Russell 20

I assume that Russell is going through a rebuilding year. Russell was a good power house team a few years ago. Good job SK.

:sssh: You're going to upset some people in Ft. Thomas if you claim anyone other than a Highlands player is the best RB in NKY. (It doesn't matter if you're right, either). ;)

I'm sure it won't sway their opinion, but what can I say?

SK played a real good game. Next week is the one that counts. Hopefully the new looks will work against Campbell but I look for that to be a much tougher challenge. Lawrence is going to be a pretty good QB, I don't look for him to put up huge numbers through the air but he will hurt a lot of teams with his feet. Miles had another good game, the yards weren't a surprise but I didn't see him scoring 5 TD's. All in all Russell was just over-matched.

You're right about that but I think I'd have to agree with you on this one. If you think about it though you can't go wrong with either.

Didn't Russell kicker Jason Dolly have 75 consecutive PAT's until last night?

His streak actually ended last week right after he broke the record.

Miles Simpson is simply amazing!

Has anyone heard from Widcat willy or any of their posse'? I thought sure they'd have some comments.

The big thing about that 80 yard run was the block Lawrence had on the huge TE to give Miles the corner..

That might have been the important block but the big one was by the # 8 on that play. A great hit.

Playing quality teams help, IMO. Russell was competitive with SK last year – they are not “far” superior.

Russell’s starters are not used to playing a whole game due to the easy district schedule that they play. It appears that they can play with a good team for about a half and then get whipped in the 3rd quarter. If Russell is going to continue playing a lot of weak teams (because they have to in their district) then they need a better conditioning program outside of games. It’s late in the season to be so winded in the 3rd quarter.

Just what I was thinking.

Simon Kenton's has a great team. Lots of speed. Best back that Russell has seen in a while. Russell will be just fine in the next couple of weeks.

This game reminded me a lot of the Ashland game. Rusell kept it close for a little over a half, but then they just wore out in the 2nd half, and Simon Kenton ran away with it. The Russell players were once again bening over at the waist in the 2nd half. This team simply isn't in shape, and they can't tackle very well at all. At least Coach Kidwell won't have to wait as long as Coach Dodd did the past few years to get all of his boys out for the team.

Bailey going out in the second quarter I don't think helped things. Sounds after talking with some people that Russell shot themselves in the foot. Get stopped @ the 1 yd line before half, then come down into the redzone after half to kill the drive with penalties. Get an interception and score, then give up a 80yd TD, then fumble the ensuing kickoff on the 7yd line, Bailey's replacement. Then fumble the next drive inside the 30 and give up another TD.

Seems all you have to do this year is bring the house against Russell, Ivan isn't going to make teams pay by throwing the ball. Just blitz your whole team and you will win.
