I just watched one of the most exciting hs football games. I do however feel sorry for the punters. They didn't get to show their skills much. I know that the Hunter qb will make mistakes and has a lot to learn, but what a competitor, what a winner. He is special.

What a win what a game, this was a fun one to go to. Ashland is a team on fire right now.

Before this game, neither did I think Woodford could score 44 on the Ashland defense, nor did I think an emerging Tomcat offense could score 54 on a top ten team…not to mention going from 10 points down to 10 points up in about a 2 minute time span.

 

Something I did believe though was if the Tomcats were going to win, it would most likely be due to their defensive capabilities. Those two picks by T.R. Hush were game changers and due in large part to a ferocious pass rush. The pick and TD run by Burns was a thing of beauty too. Duckworth lived up to the hype and there were times in this game which Ashland just didn’t have an answer to stop him…that is until a swarming Tomcat defense found something a bit extra and steamrolled the Woodford O-line.

 

On offense, young Sam Hunter is starting to find his passing game and it was great to see Bonner being effective as a receiver. Blake McCloud took some hellacious shots but ran strong all night. Alber and Carter were solid as well…all of this made possible by the Tomcat lineman. I’m really proud of those guys in the trenches…they NEVER gave up in this game.

 

Prayers are with Dom DiMartino…I hope his injury is not severe.

 

Lastly…I had the pleasure of meeting Ram and Ram Jr. tonight…it was great to meet you guys, even though you were wearing two shades of orange.

Congratulations Ashland! I didn't get to make it to the game, but I listened to the always enjoyable Ashland radio crew (best high school radio crew I've heard) describe it. It sounds like it was a very exciting game.

 

It is good to see Ashland get past the best passing team they will face this season. What a turnaround, huh? Did Woodford County not have any sort of running game at all to milk the clock with a 10 point lead in the game's final minutes? Unbelievable.

 

Ashland goes on the road for 2 games now before returning to Putnam Stadium to face the best running team they will face this season, Johnson Central. They have their work cut out for them, but I think they can do it.

 

Besides, Ashland's only losses have come to teams wearing orange, Raceland and Ironton. I don't think any of their remaining opponents wear orange...so it's looking good!

We fans certainly got our dollars worth of entertainment: 930 total yards of offense, 14 touchdowns and 3 very memorable defensive plays (interceptions). Knowing the outcome, it would be great to watch that game again but I dont know if I could survive another live one...

WOW. This one all that many thought it would be and definately worth the drive. I remember seating there in the 4th quarter and saying one of these teams just need a TO to win because it was literal going to be a game of who had the ball last was going to win and when Woodford recovered Carters fumble and went down and kicked the field goal to go ahead 10 I thought Woodford had locked it up, nope! The players and Coaching Staff of Ashland made some great adjustments, like many have said, by dropping the ends into the flats to defend the bubble screen and throws into the flats to the RB's. But it still took some great plays by the players to make those picks. To put up 20 against any team in 3:00 is scary, but to do it against Woodford:eek: I also want to say to the QB, who is a FRESHMAN, that a played with plenty of poise and. Made alot of great throws and fakes in the running game, he looks like he is going to be a dandy.

 

Great game by the Tomcats, the district has taken notice. And good luck to Woodford the rest of the way.

How many yards for Carter on the season? Where does he rank among the state rushing leaders? Seems he is over 100 every game.

After the Woodford Co game, Carter has rushed for 1,016 yards. I don’t know where he ranks in the state, but he is not in the top 25 based on average yards rushed per game. At this point, what stands out to me is not his total yards, but his improved ability to hang on to the football. At least from the stands, it appears he is becoming a better team player too.

Sounds like an outstanding game. The tomcats seem to be lookin strong with the new QB under center. I think he's gonna be a good one.

Woodford has finished district play now. Their district record is 2/2. They probably won't be number 2.

 

Ashland (2/0) has Bryan Station (1/2) and Johnson Central (2/0) left to play.

 

Johnson Central has Montgomery Co. (0/3) and Ashland to play.
