Nick Hudson is a player!!!! Very athletic, about 5'10", extremely fast, and can get to the rim. He plays full speed 100% of the time. Has started since he was a freshman, so he is very experienced.

 

Others in Lexington that get no mention, I think simply because they have no one on this board promoting them, are the two senior guards from Bryan Station. IMO, they are one of the best guard combos in the state. Morones and Ashford can flat out play. Yes, you hear a lot about the Scott Co guards Guyan and Jackson, because they have folks talking them up constantly. It will be interesting to see Station and Scott Co match-up this season. Scott Co will have the advantage down low, but I'm not so sure that Bryan Stations guards aren't better than Scott County's.

Every top team in the 7th has strong guard play and Male does too. 5-11 Kevin Glenn and 5-10 D'Carlos Hayes are one of the top guard duos in the state.

How do all of those smaller guards stack up against some of the bigger ones being mentioned as top 10 players? (R. Johnson, Pittman, Jackson, Cosby, Jenkins)

All 4 guards are very good. I believe with Jackson and Guyn those 2 are looked at as very good college prospects so they get more publicity and I do believe they are better as well.

No doubt about that. He will split time at the point though with either Housely or R. Johnson. Riley is probably the purest shooter on the team so I can imagine Henley will want to utilize him at the 2 from time to time to get him some open shots.

The one is not much different than the four on Holmes offense. Riley will get his shots from the point just as he would anywhere. Housley makes it tough to press with him in Riley.

It's tough to draw a direct comparison to any of them since each player for Holmes is uniquely talented. If I had to throw out some comparisons it would be Kimbro and Pittman. Same body types and similar abilities in rebounding and scoring around the basket. I would say the main difference is Kimbro is better suited out on the perimeter as Pittman is in the paint and baseline in terms of skills set.

 

Then I would go with R. Johnson and Jenkins. Jenkins is a pure 2G and can post up guards as Johnson is a G/F who can play a midrange game and mix it up in the paint and play out on the perimeter. I think there is going to be some surprises in Jenkins' game as he will get it to the hole more often and score and it won't just being laying it up over the cylinder either, but rather he will be throwing it down with improved hops. Johnson is just now starting to untap his potential and so is Pittman.

And I agree. Both have a dynamic duo. It'd be nice to see a Manual-Holmes match up at some point during the year.

 

I think a player that a lot underestimate that you may see as a top 10 player by the end of this year is Ricardo's brother J.J. He wasn't much of a scorer last year because he was relied on to defend but anyone who watched him throughout the year can tell the talent is there and he has the ability to take over a game if he decides to turn it up and become more aggressive offensively.
