4A Football

I have seen both Boyle and Bell play. I think Boyle is a better team. That can change based on injuries or performance toward the end of the season, but I think the Rebels are the best team in 4A.

I am curious as to which games you saw them play, and how many of each.

Boyle- Henry Clay, Lex Cath, Danville

Bell- Knox Central and Rockcastle

All on tape, mind you. I think that there is something to be said for seeing a team in person. From what I have seen on tape, I think Boyle is the better team right now.

I agree Boyle has played a good schedule, not great but good. Bell has played one that has lef a lot to be desired. But some of that comes from team in SE and EKY not wanting to play. Besides district opponents it seems that Sheldon Clark and Leslie were the only ones willing to play. Hopefully in the 09-10 scheduling some of the thought to be powers will step up and play. I think the game with Harlan Co. is a done deal, but they still have many open dates.
Who said Bell had to stay in eastern or southeastern Kentucky? Boyle went to Bowling Green on opening weekend. Bell can either make such a trip or try and bring in a big-name opponent for the first game.

Who, other than Corbin or Middlesboro, have refused to play Bell?

So how are you coming up with all of these films? I am sure the involved schools would like to know too?

North Laurel,South Laurel,Pulaski Co. Southwest Pulaski, Clay Co. will not play and has a open invite to play in 09/10. When you will drive to Sheldon Clark and to Tates creek that should tell you something. Bell is in the process of picking up 3 Tennessee team for the 09/10 seasons.

Dudley sent an email to the coaches, principals and Superintendents about try to reschedule the two teams. Not for him, but for the fans.

Again why would Bell want to play NL, Clay, and SL. How could that be considered strengthening the schedule? If they are going to play mountain teams I think I would be trying to work with Belfry, P'burg, and JCHS.

I hope Church Hill is not one of the Tn. teams.

Western knocking off 3A #1 Central at Central. Another team that can be scary coming out of the west. Central beat Male 23-10 and lost a heartbreaker to Manual at the end. Western making some noise on a big win tonight.

Best thing about November is it will all sort itself out!!

I believe the Bell, Boyle, and LexCath are the 3 top teams in the class. Bell occasionally does have scheduling problems as far as getting quality opponents. I am sure when Bell scheduled a double-header with Tates Creek he expected them to be better. The double header with Henry Clay was good. Id like to see a Bell vs. Breathitt or Belfry matchup as well.

The way Lone Oaks been scoring, you have to think they would have a shot..I know they were humbled by LC last year, but, I don't think there are any teams in 4a this year near as strong as that one was and getting that playoff and state experience can do nothing but help...They'll need to improve there defense, but, they can be pretty successful in a shootout type game...

No team is near as strong as Lex. Cath last year? need I remind you, Bell Co. played Lex. Cath VERY well last year, and was the toughes test for them in the playoffs. Nearly everyone ive heard from agrees the score at the end didnt reflect how close it actually was. Just one or two less mistakes by Bell Co. or heck, capitalizing on one or two Catholic mistakes that one could have turned out completely different, and only losing 6 seniors, I think you could consider Bell Co. to be "close", especially now that the offense has began to click with Zachery under center.

Not saying Tates Creek is the best in the state, but remember, they gave Bell Co. the toughest test all year last year besides Lex. Cath, after the game Dudley stated he knew it would be a fight comming in and thats what it was, Actually was a close one until the end, but losing Nelson before half also hurt a bit last year so, take that for what its worth. I'd love to see Bell-Belfry also, and really hope the deal with HCHS works out.

I saw the LexCath-Bell game on tape ... I didn't see it as closer than the score would indicate. I saw a superior LexCath team that won convincingly despite making a long road trip.

I am not saying that Lone Oak was better than Bell, but I would have taken the Purple Flash's chances against them. Lone Oak matched up much better with the Bobcats.

Is Bell at the LexCath level of last year? I doubt it, and I doubt that Boyle is right now, either. LexCath certainly isn't, either.

I am not by no means saying Bell was as good as LexCath last year, but it was a 1 TD game in the 3rd qtr and Bell drove the ball the the LexCath 20. Then they fumbled the ball away on 3 straight posessions. The game was closer than what the scoreboard showed at the end, but LexCath was the best team.
