This game may be close for the first half just because of the emotions that typically come with a rivalry game but you can only play off emotion for so long. Greenup is going to have to put up alot of points to keep up with Raceland in this one and with the offensive struggles G.C. has been having all season, I just dont see them doing that friday night.

Greenup never makes it easy on Raceland. I say Raceland starts slow but gets things going after getting hit in the mouth a time or two by the Musketeers.

You're exactly right. Raceland has to come to play, if they don't they will go home with their first loss. Two years ago the Rams went into Lloyd thinking they were going to win big, and about got beat for it. Greenup will come to win this game, make no mistake about it.

 

Raceland had better show up prepared for a battle, because Greenup is going to give it to them.

 

I had the pleasure to watch a Raceland-Greenup one year ,a close friends son played for the Rams .The game was just like a old Boyd co. Ashland from the 70'S ,very dangerous game Rams need to come in there ready for a fight.

McKinzie was a very good football player. For this act, the part of Matt McKinzie will be played by Brett Denton. And the half-back roll will be played by John-Scott Carver.

 

I hope the Rams heed the warnings of the old guys, we do occasionally know what we are talking about.

As an admirer of Ram football, this game is troubling. Raceland has beaten the Musketeers for three years in a row. That means these seniors have never been beaten by GC and conversely, GC seniors have never beaten their cross county rivals. Will the Rams take GC seriously, especially after an emotionally charged victory last week…or….will the GC players look at this game being their last chance to tag the Rams.

 

With every successive victory Raceland posts this season, it is going to get increasingly more difficult to maintain focus and play each game like it was your last. With the game being played at Lloyd, something tells me the Musketeers will come out on fire and Raceland needs to be prepared to weather that early surge. IF they fall behind, not to panic, but just keep hammering away.

 

The Rams are not going to sneak up on anybody at this point. Everyone who follows high school football knows that Raceland is on a roll right now.

Matt McKnezie was one of the toughest players to play at Raceland. He played extremely well from his LB position. Fun player to watch and he gave 110% on every play.

Raceland will be minus Tolliver.

Sophomore reserve Micheal Litter is questionable. He had a very good kick off return last week versus LCA.

:thumb: Absolutely! McKenzie was imo one of the better LB to play at Raceland and mostly bc of the way he played and as you said...he would HIT you!

An all time or best ever team would be hard to name though, there have been several through the years that one could name in that group (one of the best ever) and would not be wrong. I seem to remember one in the 70s that was All State (h.m.), I think they called him cvillecat.

As I and others have see before and said....a person can throw any stats out the window in this one, this rivalry is a backyard brawl/county pride type game.

Ram players......As has been noted in an earlier post, this is Greenup County's Homecoming!. How does that make you feel being chosen as an opponet for a homecoming game? I don't know about now but at one time players took that as an insult. GCHS must think they are going to run over you for a homecomng celebration :sssh:....................Just a little something to think about.
