]A media curves panel scored the debate for Obama[/b]. Though I'd put much more stock in scientific polling. However, I couldn't pass up these statistics:

 

90% of Republicans thought McCain won, while 93% of Democrats thought Obama won. That would be funny if it weren't so sad.

Roll your eyes. If McCain gets rid of that sham, and replaces her with a respectable choice, it would definitely make me consider him VERY seriously. But, as he alluded to her in tonights debate as a fellow maverick, I doubt seriously that will happen.

 

I'm not biased in my opinion of Palin. There are facts to support that she's completely and utterly not a good choice for VP. I also feel there's enough evidence (including comments from the McCain campaign) that confirms his attempt to pander to the female voter, that I definitely lost a bit of respect for him. IMO, he insulted me, a woman voter, when he assumed that any woman would be enough to secure our vote. IMO, he apparently doesn't realize it's been a few decades since sufferage....we're even smarter now than then. We won't vote for a woman just because she's a woman.

Oh RM give me a break. There has been no shortage of slams on McCain and I can't recall you taking McCain's side. I still don't buy you're undecided, you may try to tell yourself that, but deep down I think you made your mind up a long time ago. I feel like McCain did a very good job dumming down the material and painting a picture so that the general public could understand where he was coming from. I like that, not that I really need it but I am sure many do when they discuss all the different policies that they do. I dont' feel like neither truely won the debate, but I will give McCain the small nod.

I said McCain would pick up a point or so. He’s taken a drubbing this week because of the economy, and he performed well tonight, so I think he’ll trend up a bit, or at least stop the falling. Obama didn’t lose, and this was his weak issue. He’s also leading, so that may be an advantage for him coming out of this debate. Regardless, debates move the polls precious little and neither dominated.

 

There are a lot of intangibles that affect how voters feel. I keep hearing things about McCain looking angry, or Obama looking into the camera, which I didn’t notice or pay attention to. McCain stumbled over Ahmedenijad’s name and it took him a couple of tries to get it right and Obama had to look at his bracelet to read the soldier’s name. I though both of those were significant.

 

How will voters weight the issues? This is extremely important. Will Iraq be the topic de jour or will it be Al-Qaeda? What about the tax policies? Does the financial crisis hurt McCain’s deductions for the rich? Does Obama’s absence from trips to Iraq and Afghanistan hurt him?

 

I think these are all things that no analysts will figure out. Especially since we are following the issues anyway we have more vested into these debates.
