It is my understanding that the official crews are graded regularly and also ranked which was news to me. Someone also told me today that the officiating was considered very poor for both teams and that this crew was one of the lower ranked crews in this region. That being said, I have heard that officials from both teams are going to contact the khsaa as to why such a low ranked (graded) crew was assigned to such a high profile (ranked) game. You would think that you would want one of your best crews at this game. FYI the crew that did the Danville/Boyle game in week 3 was calling their first game of the season. Or at least 2 of the crew were doing their first game. Seems to me more thought would go into games between high ranked, high profile teams. Just make more sense to me. But then again who am I.

I have always herd that you can "black ball" 1 officiating crew for the playoffs. Does anybody know if this is true?

I for one can tell you that Lex. Cath has benefited several times by officiating, they were probably due to get the short end of the stick. They have won some key games due to alot of key calls by officials. Look at some of the biggest games they have had at LC and see the same officials they have for each one. So too bad but sometimes its just your turn.

Keep in mind that the KHSAA does not assign officials. As I understand it, each region has an assigning secretary (whom is selected by the schools in the region I think) that assigns the referees to the games.

No one team benefited by the officiating. The Officials where consistent.......consistently bad.

Not a fan of either team, but the game was in Lex and looked good, so I thought I would attend. Heres my question for Boyle fans... It seemed like most of the night Lex Cath's QB had all day to throw.. its Boyle's line that bad or is Catholic's Oline that good?

This is also a defensive strategy that French and Chuck Smith use a lot against passing teams. They will drop 7-8 kids in coverage. I wasn't at the game, but it appears that the strategy worked well, considering they won the game and limited a high scoring offense to 11 points.
