Congrats to the Birds for the come from behind victory. I walked in at the start of the 4th qtr and they were down 21 to 14 with the ball. True took a screen pass from CArter New and rumbled 70+ yrds for a score on some excellent downfield blocking. I believe Austin Sheehan was leading the way and sprung him.

 

Bird Defense stifled the Cov Cath offense and forced a punt. They took over with 3 min to go and proceeded to drive to the 16 on a mix of running plays to Jake True and Josh Quillen. Quillen got the call on a sweep around the left end where he dove for the endzone scoring with 40 sec left.

 

Cov Cath got one final chance and couldnt find the endzone as time ran out.

 

Jake True probably had over 200 all purpose yards and Quillen ran hard as well from what I saw. Offensive line played well for the Birds as well on those last couple drives that I saw.

 

Cov Cath had some nice players as well and looked aggressive on Defense.

 

Only injury I saw was Ringwald leaving the field for Highlands. Hope all is well with that young man.

 

#75 for Highlands Michael Iles is a player and hopefully will develop into a very fine football player.

It was a very good game from what many said and CovCath made some very nice plays. I did see a play early in the game where a CovCath defensive end made a great read on a toss to True and picked it off running 80 yrds getting caught at the 1 yrd line. Congrats to those young men as well.

Nice summary gryche. Both teams played very well. A very well, hard played game. I'm sure the Colonels are disappointed but they shouldn't hang their heads at all. They played well. Congrats to the kids and coaches on both teams.

I really don't want them to get wet. If the rain stops by game time, they will be on. I will have them with me and have to make that call. They have to make it thru at least two seasons. I love them and, trust me, I WILL be wearing them.:banana:

CovCath was winning 14-7 at he half with one first down...CovCath scores on an interception of a pitch and a 95 yard pass play in the first half. Jake True has to be a very tired young man. He must of carried the ball 30 times tonight and was all over the field playing linebacker.The only thing that worries me with the young birds is their defensive secondary.If they tighten that up the baby birds could be hard to beat...:thumb:
