Exactly! Clearly many in the crowd took it as a reference to Pallin. It's just too similar to one of Pallin's signature phrases not to make the connection. If Obama meant it as a reference to Pallin then that doesn't speak well of Obama's character. If he didn't mean it as a reference to Pallin then he is so lacking in awareness in how his words could be interpretted that it doesn't speak well of his diplomatic skills. The bottom line is that he stepped in it big time.

 

Give me a break. This is clearly something taken out of context that Republicans have taken and run with because they realized they can take advantage of the situation. Honestly, it doesn't speak well of McCain's character or management skills that he would let the attack dogs in his campaign make such outrageous misrepresentation of an innocuous statement. Does McCain approve of what's being done on his behalf? Does he have control of his own campaign or are the inmates running the asylum? Either way, for people who have seen the entire video clip, this false indignation stunt is quite disappointing from someone who pledged to run a clean campaign.

 

 

 

I do agree though that McCain and Pallin need to be careful in how they handle Obama's misstep. They are in danger of overplaying their hand.

OK, I found that Obama credited Toles during his appearance on Countdown. Still, using the words without attribution on a later date was a major gaffe and will remind people that he picked a plagiarist as a running mate.

 

 

I guess being chained to a legacy of failure means the Republicans and their backers have been reduced to the role of ankle dogs, yipping at every perceived slipup and misstep of their opponents, rather than challenging them on real issues. I wonder how long the American public, skittish about the economy, the mortgage crisis, and the myriad other things that have gone terribly wrong on Dubya's watch, will tolerate the McCain camp's endless attempts to change the subject to 'lipstick' comments and the like.

:lol: There is always 2012. Beginning with the decision to put Biden on the ticket, Obama has been running one of the worst campaigns that I can remember and his blunders have been moving the poll numbers. Do you still think Joe Biden was a better VP pick than Sarah Palin?

From a standpoint of strict governance qualifications, absolutely Biden was a better pick. No question. From a standpoint of deriving pure political advantage, McCain's pick of Palin has helped him enjoy a significant bounce coming out of the GOP convention. I wonder if he'll be able to sustain that once she has to actually open her mouth and answer questions about foreign policy, macroeconomics, or the structure of the Constitution on her own. Of course, the GOP handlers have worked miracles of this magnitude in the past. I will say that the Republicans are definitely far more skilled at winning elections than they are at governing.

I think that's a fair statement of all politicans regardless of party.

There is really nothing about Joe Biden's Senate career that distinguishes him from a host of other Senators in a good way. Seniority is not in and of itself a qualification for the presidency and seniority is Biden's best argument for being ready to serve as president. On that basis, Robert Byrd is far more qualified. :lol:

You have to admit, it was rather stupid of him, he had to know it would have caused controversy after the Palin comment, then again, maybe he really is that dumb.

I really don't see any connection with the dog to the main subject of the ad. Are dogs known for lying?? Looks to me like she is comparing her to a dog for what reason I'm not sure. The comment "this dog doesn't hunt" may have some signifigance, but not being familiar with Kay Hagan, I don't know. Just my opinion.
