I'am comparing Chicago and the 50,000 deaths in Viet Nam.

 

You were blaming Obama for Chicago' murders, and I seriously doubt he killed anyone, but we know McCain did.

I am not blaming Obama for any deaths, except for the newborns who might have been saved had he supported legislation to bar hospitals from letting them die without medical treatment.

 

The point is that despite the fact that the south side of Chicago has had the benefit of Barack Obama's wisdom and special brand of leadership and eloquence for many years, it remains an extremely dangerous place to live. Obama has made no difference there.

Seriously, if you were more active on this forum, then you would know the answer to that question. IMO, Hillary Clinton was the very obvious and safe pick for Obama but his elephant sized ego would not allow him to pick her. I would have been very critical of Clinton but not Obama's decision to pick her. I think Clinton would have made a much better president than Obama would.

 

As for Democrats that I would have preferred Obama to have selected, I made the case for Brian Schweitzer months ago at the same time that I made the pitch for Sarah Palin and for many of the same reasons. Schweitzer has been against the Iraq War, which would have appealed to the left, and he was the most knowledgeable prospective candidate on energy among elected Democrats, IMO. If Obama had adopted a more rational energy plan and allowed Schweitzer to articulate that plan, the ticket would have had more appeal to moderate Republicans and independents.

 

Sam Nunn would have been another smart pick for Obama. He has been out of the US Senate long enough to run as an outsider and nobody would have questioned his foreign policy credentials.

 

Biden was a bone headed choice that does nothing to reenforce Obama's change message. Biden is a terrible campaigner and I would not be shocked to see Obama replace him with Hillary before the election.

I asked ... is there a Democrat that Obama could have picked that you wouldn't be critical of? I wasn't referring to Obama's decision at all.

 

I have a hard time believing you wouldn't find something to criticize any Democrat of in that case ... at the very least, for agreeing to join Obama on the ticket.

If you are seriously questioning the records of John McCain and Sarah Palin of challenging the status quo and shaking things up in the role of reformers, then I suggest you do some serious homework.

Sarah Palin has not been in Washington at all. She is the only outside-the-beltway candidate running. McCain did not create the nickname "Maverick" for this campaign. The media has been referring to McCain as a maverick for years for his tendency to embarrass his fellow Republicans on key issues by working with Democrats to pass legislation (most of which I have opposed).

I'm not challenging any of their records. But it does amaze me that those on the right that have been griping about McCain for several years are now are now squarely in his corner.

Neither Obama nor Biden have no record of change - all they can do is promise change in the future. Biden was a bone headed pick.

You are enitled to your opinion. Frankly, the fact that you're so critical of Obama's pick of Biden makes me think it was a good one. :lol:

And just for the record, your support and the Democrat politicians' support of that position is responsible for more unborn baby's lives being aborted in 2 days than Bush is responsible for in 5 years of the Iraq war.

 

That means those who support that choice has much more blood on their hands than Bush does from Iraq.

Palin ousted a upopular governor, and has been governor for less than 2 years. Yes, she has an 84% approval rating, but to think this all the way through, I would think that succeeding a governor like Murkowski, just about everything she would do would be better than Murkowski. As well, going forward, her approval ratings could have potentially taken hits as she tackled more controversial issues. From what I've read, it wouldn't be hard to take on the good old boy network with the ammo so readily available for someone outside their circle to use against them. There doesn't seem to be an indication that she uncovered earth-shattering revelations, just went the distance in resolving the situation.

 

You could very well be correct that she is qualified...for VP. I still think she needs to have more experience to be the right-hand of a 72 year old man in the throne room. McCain's mother may be 96, but statistically, males live shorter lives....

Abortion was illegal when R v Wade went in front of the Supreme Court.

And if you really are of the mindset that a women should be able to do what she wants with her body, illegal prostitution should offend you.

So, with suicide being a personal choice (ummm, of course it is or it would be murder), you would then take the position that the gov't should not force a person for counseling if they try and take their own life.

Just patch them physically and send them on their way. Well, actually, shouldn't even patch them up but leave them to die since it was their choice to try and end their life?

Point to Palin's foreign policy blunders. Point to her close friends or associates who have bombed a federal building or who have been sent to prison on corruption charges. Inexperience and bad judgment do not necessarily go hand in hand but in Obama's case they walk together.

Palin will be interviewed by Charles Gibson on ABC News this week. While Obama's campaign was ridiculing Palin for not rushing to the nearest TV camera for an interview, the McCain campaign was already busy scheduling Palin's first interview since being nominated.

 

Palin has been interviewed on national TV in the past and performed very well. I hope that Obama and Biden continue to try to lower expectations because they are going to look pretty stupid when people actually see how much better Palin is in an interview setting than either of them are.

Let me ask you this. If abortion is made illegal do you really think it would end abortions?
