Just got back from this one. Bobcats dominated all aspects of the game and completely torched Whitley:flame: I predicted this one to be close, but looks like the coaching staff has tied up some loose ends on Defense, still gave up a couple long runs, but im sure it'll be taken care of. Also, Cory Davenport, the freshman, was very impressive on D, has a one handed INT early in the game, Could make a huge impact on the pass defense, sems to just have that killer instinct, and seems to know exactly where the ball is at all times.

Coach Black still hasn't been able to recreate his success from Williamsburg at Whitley.

Was I ever wrong about this one. I thought Whitley Co. was back, but it looks like its the same old same. Congrats Bell on yet another domination.

I heard the halftime stats on this one while driving to the Corbin game and you would have thought that Whitley was ahead or at least close instead of being down 3 TD''s. Whitley had about double the first downs and also had more total yardage than Bell in the first half. I'm not sure what exactly happened, but turnovers must have played a big part in the score and the Whitley announcers also stated that Bell did not commit a penalty whereas the Colonels had some costly ones.

Penalties - Not on Log Mountain, are you delusional no way would a visiting team suffer through a series of costly back-breaking flags.

Whitley got a holding penalty when they were on about the 15 of Bell and had drove the ball all the way up field. Bell actually tackled Whitley for about a 3 yard loss on the play. It was 1st and 20 instead of 2nd and 13. Then they threw a 3rd down interception that Davenport brought back to around the Whitley 45.

Another play that really broke Whitley's back was a fake punt on 4th and 9 at midfield. Greer took it to the Whitley Co. 6. That seemed to really break their back.

Those costly flags were just a few that were called. The could have called holding or blocking in the back all night they were just a few that were called. I saw several blocking in the backs that were not called right in front of the refs.

The Refs had nothing to do with the outcome, first and foremost!!!!!

 

Whitley committed a hold on their first drive that put them in a first and 20, deep in Bell territory, and then they threw an interception which was returned into Whitley territory. BANG!!! Big turnaroud and the wind went out of the sails of the Colonels.

 

Then it looked like the Colonels were a bit shell shocked.

 

Make no mistake Bell is a seriously good football, and they can make little mistakes look big, Whitley will be fine, they just need to regroup and come back next week. Alot of good football teams have gone to Log Mt and lost.

 

I think that Dudly Hilton is one of the best coaches in the State not just the Mountains. His teams line and just do the things that it takes to win football games. I am going to say this, Whitley won't be the last team to be beaten badly by this Bell team.

 

Whitley will be fine they just need to understand that they have to be near perfect every game and they were not on Friday. Remember they smoked a Middlesboro team that smoked Dunbar. Whitley is a team that is still learning how to deal with success not matter how small, so don't jump ship yet!

 

Good Luck to Bell County, I look for them to do great things this season.

Those costly flags were just a few that were called. The could have called holding or blocking in the back all night they were just a few that were called. I saw several blocking in the backs that were not called right in front of the refs.

Bell Had a touchdown called back on holding call in the 4th quarter. Whitley has improved and think it will be between them and Letcher for the district title. Godd luck to colonels!

You are right that WC is going to be fine. Losing to Bell is something that will happen if you play them alot. But, I watched Dunbar over at Corbin friday, and I wouldn't hang a notch in my teams hat for defeating a team that defeated Dunbar. That program has truly fallen on hard times. They aren't the powerful Dunbar we're used to seeing ..... Mboro had them down 27 at the half.

 

That being said, good luck to WC the remainder of the season. Maybe this will be their only mark in the L column.

I don't think that beating Mboro is such a big accomplishment yet for WC. I understand that Dunbar is really down. Good Luck to WC and hope they don't lose another football game.
