I bet you haven't heard anyone on MSNBC mention that she has an 80% approval rating in Alaska.

For those of us who consider the Media an "unoficial" fourth branch of government, I don't see the big problem if the media is considered left wing.

 

This post is disturbing to me. I would hope you would see a big problem if it were either left wing or right wing. The "unofficial" fourth branch of government is also a large concern.

All Fox programs and Rush's program would be mainstream.

 

A left-wing blog is hardly mainstream . If DailyKos is the only example (and I'm sure it will not be) then I think that answers my question.

 

Watch MSNBC much? I watched a little of Keith Olberman during the DNC and last night after the RNC. He was just salivating during the DNC on how wonderful and groundbreaking it all was. Then last night he was taking little pot shots at Palin for being smug and too aggressive. I think several of the major media outlets pick who they like and everyone else is 2nd rate. I don't think they were fair to Hillary Clinton (and I am not a fan of hers) and have annointed Obama as the 2nd coming.

 

However, there is a reason that Fox news has become the most watched of all the news networks, .... America leans to the right as a culture than the left. Why has Air America failed? Because Americans are more conservative than liberal. They even listen to right wing blowhards like Rush Limbaugh because he at least leans the way they do (even if he is too arrogant for my tastes). Does it leans to the right? Yes, without a doubt. But it sure seems than CBS, NBC, CNN (to some extent) and MSNBC lean to the left enough.

Compared to Fox News and Rush, it safe to say everything sounds more left. Republicans have been playing the media for years, a comparision I heard a long time ago, its like oneside trying to think the Refs are bias, and cheating them.

Why didn't the "mainstream" media report anything about Edward's affair before he confessed?

I guess my point about not a problem about the media being left wing is my feeling that most of our problems with the media and candidates come from the fact that the electorate is very uneducated and uninspired. Many people proclaimed in 2000, and 2004 Presidential elections about the lack of good candidates. I feel that it is the fault of the American people to not do what is neccessary throughout the past 30 or so years to guarentee better candidates.

 

As for the fourth branch of government, I see the media as an opportunity to have an extra level of public oversight. Think Woodward and Bernsien with the Watergate era. Add that into the fact that votes are public is what I was thinking of, the ability to find out more information than the average joe who works 9 to 5 would.

Is he a talking head or a news anchor? Since he basically sets policy for all of MSNBC now I think he is a little bit more than a talking head.

 

You need to read up on the Troopergate investigation. There will be a finding released on 10.31.08 so its not settled.

 

I have no problem with her wanting to use FED funds - its her perogative. The issue that seems to be missed here is that she is saying that BECAUSE it came from the FEDS she didn't want it. That appears to not be accurate. As a matter of fact, this money that she didn't want for the bridge because it was from the FEDs was then OK for her to take for other reasons. I'd argue that the MSM has not really delved into this other than the standard "she was for it before she was against it." Most people don't read the details or look into anything.

 

KO is a talking head. If you find their actual "reporters" being unfair then you have an issue. Its like me saying Hannity is unfair despite the fact that he's a talking head/opinion giver.

MT - I've said it previously in this thread and I'll say it again. KO is a talking head. Rush Limbaugh is a talking head. Al Franken is (or used to be) a talking head. Hannity is a talking head. They can (and often are) open about who they like and dislike. KO likes/loves Obama. Hannity loves McCain. Rush loves McCain (or hates Obama). What's the news here?

 

You are 100% right on this being a conservative country - at least those that watch the news on a regular basis.

 

Now give me examples of news reporters being unfair. Heck, tell me where KO has been unfair in his opinions. Has he told any falsehoods about Ms. Palin? Think Hannity has used the "Obama will raise our taxes" line that's been discredited by neutral sources? It happens with those guys. That's why they are in that position. It gets people like you and me to watch.

I bet if you did the same poll and asked if the MSM is trying to hurt Obama you'd get a big number. Why? Because many Obama supporters only hear "Fox" when they hear MSM which automatically causes them to say "yes."

 

Republicans hear "CNN" or "MSNBC" - some network that doesn't fall in line with their thinking. Its human nature. "The media is out for our guy" is mantra for both sides.

Let me ask you this because I don't know:

 

Did they have proof that he had an affair?

Give Sen. McCain's camp credit for continuing to lump all media together.

 

The National Enquirer (please don't tell me you think this is MSM) is reporting an affair. McCain's spokesperson , playing the victim card to the hilt, said "the efforts of the media and tabloids...."
