Looking around the convention center, there seemed to be a good number of empty seats.

 

I, too, am getting tired of McCain's POW story. I get it, I get it, the guy's a hero, we all thank and love him for that, but I don't need to be reminded by every person who gets up to speak.

 

 

I watched Bush's speech on NBC. Wow, what a joke. They didn't have the split screen and weren't able to feed in the crowd's reaction, so everytime GW paused for applause, it made him look like an idiot. It wasn't until after his speech that the guys at NBC had to say "sorry about that, we weren't able to feed in the crowd's response."

 

Those were my exact words to my wife. The delay made it look like they were slow in getting the teleprompter going. I gues great minds do think alike!!:lol:

And of course Bush used the same scare tactics "...to keep America safe from terror we need John McCain". Nothing changes.

Only convention speech I have seen this season is Fred Thompson, thought he did well.

One thing that does interest me is wondering how many of the people that are standing up for the Palin decision have actually met her.

How many people who stand up for Obama have met him? Have you met him? Palin has a strong record and there is no reason that somebody familiar with it cannot speak in support of her and defend her against the dishonest smears coming for the Democratic blogosphere.

I have been underwhelmed by the convention so far. I am looking forward to Rudy's speech, in which I expect him to hit Obama's inexperience hard, and the Palin speech should be the highlight of the convention.

While I've, of course, heard many times that McCain was a POW, Thompson's account brought out details and emotions that I had not been aware of and I came away with this thought, John McCain possesses something in his character that I don't have. This man endured unspeakably horrible abuses in a Vietnamese prison camp and then, as a matter of honor, fairness, patriotism, and principle allowed himself to endure another five years rather than give in to the propaganda demands of his captors. Absolutely, this speaks for the character of this man and his love for his country.

I completely agree. But for this reason alone, should he be president? I'm sure there are many many more Vietnam vets who have a similar story.

You completely misunderstood the question.

 

Have I met Obama? No. However, Sean Hannity/Keith Olbermann/Brian Williams/Katie Courie are not tracking me down for my thoughts.

 

However, they are tracking down people like Pawlenty for his opinions which he gladly gives as if he has intimate knowledge of her thinking. However, when he was asked this morning by a fellow Republican if he has EVER met her what do you think his answer was? Correct - he had not. So he's either reading your posts on here or he is simply repeating the company lines passed out (apparently) in a morning email.

 

Before you go apoplectic, yes, I'm sure there are people defending Obama who have never met him. However, my guess is that since he's been on the national scene since 2002/2003 those who do not know him are much fewer in number.
