He sounded more like the John McCain I know tonight than he has since the primaries. I think it will be very well received. He was much more magnanimous and appeared very presidential. Not a great deal of red meat and barely any jabs at Obama, compared to the number of jabs Obama threw at him in his acceptance. Although all the jabs and uppercuts were thrown last night, which was pretty good planning and politics by those running the show IMO.

He got in his cuts against Obama, but they lacked the vitriol they had last night. McCain, however, isn't nearly as skilled at delivering those canned attack lines and he seemed to grimace during much of it.

September 5, 200818 yr I think John McCain is a great person. I respect him for all that he did for our country. I thought his speech was good...not great, but good. That said, I'm still not voting for him :lol:.

September 5, 200818 yr I thought it was a pretty good speech. He spoke of kitchen table issues, and the like. Yes, there was a POW story, but tonight's story in referencing it showed a lot of humility, and basically how it changed him. How often have you seen a party candidate pretty much attack his own party as he did, in speaking of having lost their way. That was very interesting. Speaking of education being the Civil Rights issue of this century was very strong. I don't think that vouchers are the answer, but if you want to harp on the gaps between social classes, the achievement gaps in education is cavernous. He did fairly well.
