Didn't the almighty wonderful Rodenburg go 2-8 last season at Roger Bacon???

It has everything to do with the players' talent, motivation, abilty to follow direction, and heart when the going gets tough.

Coaches get too much credit when they win and too much blame when they lose.

40-0, 57-0 in the last 2 games. I think some blame should be put on the coach and trying to defend him is just as bad as trying to blame him.

Did Rodenberg forget how to coach last season??????

Did Rodenberg forget how to coach last season??????

Roger Bacon has struggled for a while and play in the smaller yet very competitive GCL Central and also play the North Teams as well (Chaminade-Juliene, Alter, Carroll). I am really not trying to steer this thread towards coaching but rather programs.

Rodenburg did a god job for what he had at Roger Bacon and even though he was only there one year, Huxley (the New Head Coach) will continue to improve things at Roger Bacon. No coach was going to walk into Roger Bacon and win a ton of games. The enrollment and the attraction of athletes is not it has been in years past.

As for the game.........Cardinal Mooney has a very rich tradition. As mentioned before, they have cranked out some absolutely awesome talent year after year. Yes Cov Cath is also a good program, but not nearly on the same level as Cardinal Mooney. I just wanted to tell Coach Brossart that this is a tough loss for any coach to take because there are not a whole lot of chances to play in an event like this three to four hours away and play a team who, in all respect, would beat just about anybody around here their same size. So hang in there Coaches, hang in CCH players, your still have nine more chances to get better.

Good Luck

LBBC one day, well maybe one day, your boys at PC just might, no make that maybe they might, no make that they can only dream about being as good in football, as CovCath has been and will continue to be! Our expectation are a bit higher than those in PC land!

Remember too LBBC, CovCath has won more state football championships trophies, than years PC has been playing football! :thumb:

Roger Bacon had had some good teams recently; my point was not to bash Rodenberg, but to point out that the same coach who some were touting as great had a bad year last season; of course he did not forget how to coach, he did not have the horses last season.

Didn't Brossart coach the all-star game this year??? From what I remember the East Squad was definately not prepared..Maybe the guy just isn't a good coach??

Yea you would think a team made up of Highlands,Covcath,Dixie, and NewCath would win. I guess the team didn't buy into his sytem.;)

Players take on the personality of their coach. Coaches need to posses the qualities they are trying to incorporate.

Very true.

If I remember correctly the current group of Senior's were not all that talented as freshman. I know a lot can change, but freshman is the only year in HS you play as a class.

I agree; Coach Brossart arrives early, stays late, coaches the finer points of offensive line like footwork and hand placement every day in practice, and gives the players plenty of reps to perfect their technique; he demands discipline from his players and at the same time shows them every day how much he cares about them; he has extremely high expectations of them tells them and their parents straight up if they are not meeting expectations on and off the field; this allows them to grow as men and know exactly where they need to improve.

Unfortunately some do not like it when they fail to meet expectations and look elsewhere for the problem rather than in the mirror.

More than halft the team didn't show up for halft of the practices to buy in....so you know not of what you speak.

It is really hard to coach kids who aren't there.

How can you say they weren't talented as freshmen. From what I remember they only lost one or two games. The talent is there at CCH. But I will say that teams that are planning to contend for a state title don't lose by 60 points. It all comes down to the coaches getting there team prepared to win games like for example actually giving the team scouting reports. And as far as the defense is concerned, I am completly shocked by there play over the past three weeks. I would have thought they would be the strength of this team. I guess a DC that was a pewee coach pryor to last year just isn't cutting it.

Sounds like Coach Brossart is doing what it takes. So where is the weak link? Is it just a lack of talent, effort on the player part, coaching, or just exactly what is missing? There just might be a kink somewhere. Then again, Cov. Cath. played a powerhouse of a team that was ready for them.

In know way do I think this game is going to define Cov. Cath. They are Cov. Cath and will continue to be a threat to all in the playoffs. No doubt about that.:thumb:
