I was just wondering when was the last time we debated policies in a thread.

Before the Iowa Caucus. Much before it.

 

Good thing I joined P&R about 3 months before that.

So you think life would be just peachy and business as usually after going through what McCain did? I don't disagree that it was wrong and he shouldn't have done it. But I guarantee you I will cut him a little slack on considering.

These attempts to paint Obama as an extremist by association are nothing more than McCarthyism in a new set of clothes.

Kalid Al Mansour is an extreme left-wing Muslim who pulled strings to help Obama get admitted to Harvard Law School.

 

Obama is a friend of Tony Rezko, who is closely associated with Mansour, and Rezko helped the Obamas purchase property while Rezko was under grand jury investigation on felony charges for which he was later convicted.

 

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. was Obama's pastor for twenty years and Obama described him as his spiritual mentor. Father Michael Pfleger is another controversial religious figure who Obama called a friend for twenty years.

 

These are not unsubstantiated rumors or allegations, they are documented facts and this is not a complete list of Obama's poor judgment in friends and associates. McCarthy might have been remembered quite differently if his charges had been supported by half as many facts. :lol:

You know, if the GOP spent half as much time thinking about its governing responsibilities as it does searching for spinworthy innuendo on its opponents, our military wouldn't be overextended fighting two mismanaged wars, our deficit wouldn't be completely out of control, and our international reputation wouldn't be in tatters. Oh well, at least the Republicans have shown that they are good at something.

 

McCain has had his share of "poor judgment in friends and associates" as well, as have been mentioned in earlier posts. And he has dutifully denounced the most outrageous aspects of many of these folks after it became apparent he would suffer political damage from the association. Rome's burning, but I'm sure the next stage of this "discussion" will be to descend into an idiotic tit for tat comparison arguing whose 'friends' are worse, etc. because that's what the local McCain backers seem to like to talk about.

Where did I say he was justified? I said I will cut him some slack. Do I think his wife went through hell, of course. It was a bad situation for all. I don't think what McCain did was right but this is some average situation where a husband is messing around with his assistant for something.

Sometimes I get frustrated as well. The funny thing is that the vast majority of us have our minds made up. The folks that spend hours and hours in this forum could be so much more productive...

 

That being said, even if you don't revisit P&R for a while because of the sour taste in your mouth, please, whatever you do, cast your vote in the election, regardless of whom you support.
