I HATE the idea of the premier programs in the state going to Ohio to play each other.

Think you can convince the legislators in Louiville, eastern Kentucky and western Kentucky to give NKU the funding to start up a football program and build a football stadium big enough to accomodate the proposed high school matchups? Otherwise, there really isn't a venue in N. Ky that could host these types of games. Lets see, western Ky has WKU and Murray; Louisville has UL; Central Ky has UK and sort of EKU; eastern Ky has Morehead and sort of EKU, all with decent football programs and football stadiums. Northern Ky has ?? Well, at least we finally have a decent basketball facility at NKU.

 

I wish we wouldn't have to go out of state, but there really wouldn't be any other choice unless you are going to try to cram 10 pounds of stuff into a 5 pound container, i.e. use a high school stadium.

While I don't really care who it is, I think there is merit to JBWill's position (which seems to be supported by LN's facts). You always want a challenging schedule that can prepare you for the playoffs. That said, you want enough games where you are favored to win, won't get beat up and can fine tune some things. While tilted to the "too tough" side for a few years, Dale seems to have found a good balance. The new district helps in that regard.

 

Back to the OP, for plenty of reasons I don't think it makes sense for HHS and THS to play every year, but there is no reason they shouldn't play every 3 or 4 years in a showcase event.

We need to get our A.D.'s talking. The two best programs in Kentucky would both benefit greatly. If we will play each other, it can only make us both better so we can continue to pile on the hardware each December. It needs to happen. I would like to see Highlands replace Cincy St. Xavier starting next season. Man, that would be great!!!!!!

And that's exactly what makes this idea perfect. While not always favored to win, the games will almost always be competitive. Add in all the other benefits and you have a great match-up.

This was a home and home deal. They are not scheduled after this season.

This game, would certainly generate a tremendous following across the state.

This game would have been nice to see the last few years, but HHS didn't want any part of Brohm, Petrino or Stein.

I wouldn't bet on this. I think that Highlands tried getting Trinity for there last game of the year the last two years ( Lou. Central filled this slot). Trinity didn't want to play that close to the playoff's. Info was given from a very reliable source. I heard also that the Bird's next year will hopefully be playing at Papa John's twice!
