Holy Cross (Covington) 2008/2009

Explain this to me? How is a Maile less team with one returning starter a clear cut favorite? Especially since Shover, while I do see him as a top player in the region, has yet to feel the pressure of being a number one or even two go to guy on a team?

First off when is the last time HC beat CC in a game? When was the last time they beat them in the district tournament. CCH always has top 5 talent in the region. I believe they've made about 35 or so of the last 36-38 regionals. They may have a down year, but IMO HC is going to struggle big time.

I dont agree because they had an excellent Blake Trimpe who saw pretty limited minutes and didnt get the ball enough he is a great player.. They could have went to Eastin more and i really think they should have used Egan instead of Barth

I wouldn't go as far as calling people on that team great or excellent. Their best player is very good, but his name isn't on your post.

Yeah I agree. Eastin and Trimpe can score and they should have used them more. Egan should have played too. Hopefully he will see a lot of time this year because he can play and will be a factor.

Do people really think that Goetz doesn't know what he's doing? He sees these guys every day and I can promise you that he tries to win every game. If he thought those players earned more time they would have played more.

Trimpe IMO should have played more and Eastin less, but this year should be a solid season for the Indians.

Explain this to me? I don't see CCH being dominating at all.

CovCath has always made it to the regional tourny and ever since Holmes came back to the district, HC hasn't even come close to getting to the regional.

This year should be more of the same....Holmes will absolutely dominate and CovCath will be the runner-up. This means HC will not see the regional tourny this year.

I say losing on a last second lay-up in 05 is pretty close. Last year the game was close too. So I dont really get how HC has not even come close.

You are basing this on the past also, which does not mean anything. Cov Cath is down this year with what, 1 returning starter? Holy Cross has 4 returning starters and Sullivan was hurt all last year. Beechwood returns a lot too. So I doubt that it will be that easy for Cov Cath to be runner-up this year.

I agree 100%. CCH doesn't return much and loses there top player Maile so anyone who says it will be just another year in the ninth is crazy. It should be a great battle for 2nd behind the Bulldogs if they play as they did last year.

This is the year for HC if their goal is to beat CCH.

Thats what all the HC homers are trying to get at. I know because I'm one of them.

Throw me in there.

I would go with every team in the 9th region outside of Holmes has a goal to beat CCH if they are on the schedule.

Even if Holy Cross is going to be a more balanced team this year, you still have to wonder if Coach Goetz will do the same thing as last year and have the whole offence revolve around Shina.

No offense to Shina, but I don't think he has the ability to carry a team like Sorrell. Shina is good, but not that good.

But they have more offensive weapons than just Corey.

We'll see soon enough. I think their offensive weapons are being serioulsy overrated by the HC fans on here. Did their JV last year score a lot of points? I think they'll be extremely lucky to average 40 a game this year.
