But they have more offensive weapons than just Corey.

I was responding to the post about coach doing what they did with Corey last season, this year they will run more motion sets I believe.

We'll see soon enough. I think their offensive weapons are being serioulsy overrated by the HC fans on here. Did their JV last year score a lot of points? I think they'll be extremely lucky to average 40 a game this year.

No we are talking about the 5 others guys on Varsity who didnt get to shoot as much. Plus the JV team beat CCH by 10+ points. Shover and maybe Counts were the only returning players who didnt play JV. So why does everyone think CCH will beat HC easily?

To add to what you have here i also believe HC jv beat Holmes last year, if they didnt i know it went down to the wire maybe OT??

All I was thinking is that Holy Cross had a fine season last year running the offence around one guy. It is very possible that Coach Goetz might have a similar game plan coming into this season.

B/c they usually do and they usually have better players. W/ the exception of Shina how many varsity points do the other 4 starters have in their careers combined? They don't have scorers and IMO will struggle to score. I hope I'm totally wrong, but I don't see it.

To much is made out of JV basketball. Remember Holmes had 3 sophomores who were strickly varsity last season. (Pittman and the Johnson twins)

Sike... have you even been to a game with HC cheering. They cheer no matter what the score or sport. Even at volleyball they have a cheer section when all Cov Cath focuses on is baketball and football. True Spirit?

VERY TRUE!!!

I agree that Giwa is not the shooter that Sorrell was, but it will not be a one man show anymore at HC, with Sorrell gone they do not have to focus their whole offense around one man, it will be more team oriented. Juniors like Keith Egan and Marcus Lea will have to show leadership and step up.

This is funny!!! Shina will stop only one player and the rest wont stop anyone. Kola will dominate Sullivan, the Trimpe thing must be a joke, and whoever Volpenhein is wont stop O'Conner and neither will Egan. Eastin may play D on Hiller but wont be affective.
You are right. Scott is on another level than Holy Cross.

comply w/Rule #13

VERY TRUE!!!

Yes it is. Not only am I hearing the group of about 15 or 20 HC boys just Volleyball games(they are at almost everyone being loud and proud sporting the retro stuff) but they are at soccer matches and will be at every sporting event HC has this year. :dancingpa

HaHa I've seen the short shorts....NICE:thumb:

Last year, Goetz did the best thing for the team, and that was make Corey touch the ball on every possession. A player like Sorrell only comes around once in a while, and on that team he was the only reason they even had a respectable season. This year... well it should be interesting for the Indians. They need people who can score. I don't see it coming from anywhere other than Giwa, who when focused on can be stopped if his outside jumpshot is not falling. However, you can not stop him from picking your point guard and taking it back for a layup.. That will be HC's best offensive play this year.

I agree HC is going to have an intersting season this year, I am looking forward to attending the games and watching some good old basketball:dancingpa

I can't wait for this one. CCH vs HC at CovCath especially the JV game.. Remember last year the Indians took them down handily by 10 I believe. But the play to remember was with the clock ticking down Marcus Lee grabs rebound and takes it the lenght for a score. You talk about adding insult to injury. Then the coaches exchanged words, my money was on HC jv's coach. Buddy went to locker room with tail between legs. I can't wait for this one. Is HC JV coach still there?

Holmes only JV loss last year was to CCH in the JV region semi's. Holmes finished 20-1.

That's not true. The Johnson brothers were strictly varsity. Arnold, Riley, Dom Johnson, and Pittman were 4 of Holmes starting 5 for the JV team with I believe Willis Slusher or Jaydale Herndon being the other.
