Wrong. Mitch has not at all ruled out the possibility of playing ball again next season.

 

Thank you coop, it was indeed what I have been hearing, and saying! With his bat, glove and speed, you just have made (if Mitch plays) CovCath even more so, the Ninth Region favorite in baseball this coming 09 season!

I have no idea where they would fit in, as the only fly in the ointment is Matt Klein if he isn't able to play this spring and from what he has told me, he fully expects to play! BTW if Mitch decides to play, where do these two or three sophomores fit in at? I would much prefer a sophomore to be playing and getting innings on the JV squad then sitting on the bench and watching. Now if one of those young men has some outstanding speed on the base paths, I might use him as a Pinch Runner, but there is no current sophomore that I know of, that will start on this senior laden CovCath baseball team this year!

 

I do understand that the young Freshmen (last year) catcher is going to be something one day, but Isler is most probably the second best catcher in NKy behind Maile and Klein can catch rather well also!

I'll agree, saw the kid play and he is going to develop into something pretty nice in these years to come. I think he will do pretty well on JV this year, and I am sure he will see a little varsity action. I don't think he is going to start, but he is definitely a good ball player.

Hey OG, do you like have a direct line to all these players Dads or what. Man you have the info. You should write a Media guide for CovCath next year.

 

On the Soph. front, I personally talked with one of the players at the CCH-HHS freshman game and he and his Dad both said that two or three would be on Varsity next season. They didn't say anything about playing. The one I know is a catcher so he will probably play elsewhere when he plays.

 

How's "ICE"? Heard he will be out 3 to 5 weeks. Does he just hang up the football cleats now and move to the hardwood and be healthy or what are his plans?

Cottingham has a varsity glove but struggles at the plate. I don't think that he has the tools to hit at the Varsity level yet. But as far as a catcher, he is pretty good. I believe that he was not a starter for his summer team (not sure if he is even playing for the same team anymore)

Zach Sowder (Scott) this year should be a full-time starter for the Eagles with the graduation of Adkins. Sowder saw some starts last year when Murray went out with an injury and when Adkins was pitching. He'll be your full-time starting 2nd basemen this season, and then the starting SS in 2010.

Yeah that is kind of what I have observed and also heard. He struggles at the plate. But hopefully that will come this year. As for catching, fortunately for him, Maile and Isler both graduate this year so next year he is good to go!

As far as I know he is playing for the Lions again. Last summer he split time or maybe had a little less time then Brad Popham, who starts for Dixie.

Off topic a little, but I assure you that Liggett at Highlands is a better defensive catcher, very possibly better than anyone in NKY but Maile. :thumb:

Naw, I just love watching the games, talking to the parents/players, and keeping score! Coach Krumps and Coach Eck are the men who I have the utmost respect for as both are outstanding Christians, Teachers/Coaches and both understand the game and love it too.

Always a great experience playing with Coach Michels of the JV squad. He know how to turn his players from boys to young men, and prepare them for what thelly see at the Varsity level.
