New Starters in NKY?

Why not LaFever in LF? While LaFever is a steady infielder, he doesn't have the range that Seimer has (IMO) at second base. Seimer, Holocher, Maile, Nutini and VanSant when Nutini is pitching, gives you a very good up the middle "D". Move RD back to RF (gives you one of the best arms in NKy in RF) and play Klein at 3rd.

Thoughts?

Though all of that makes sense, I don't see why they would make all of those changes. I believe they will stick with what they used last year. They had good success with what they had, and all of those players are year older and more experienced, and should be a lot hungrier after not capturing the region that belonged to them last year, I think it would be easier for them to make one change, and that is someone to DH if they even decide to use one, then it is for them to change the defensive alignment that much.

Oldguy, is that Mark Seimer's boy? I remember Mark was one of the best players in NKY for Lloyd back in the day.

I have spoken to Logans Dad maybe one or two times at games, but I really don't know, sorry.

The range will be better for him this year. He was rehabbing a broken ankle last year and will be much faster for the Colonels this year.

No.

You speak so highly of him

I thought this was a NEW starters thread? Not returning starters.

It's speaking of Logan Siemer.

IMO... Nothing will change. Except when Krumme or Gerwe pitch... Brett Stayton will hit.

Who is Brett Stayton and where do you see him in the lineup?

Brett Stayton is a left handed first baseman for the JV team last spring. He is an above average hitter that is going to most likely battle for the DH spot as Cov Cath loses Danny Niehaus as their DH. IMO the DH spot with either go to Stayton, Warning, Martin, or Siemer. If Stayton was to take the spot he would most likely hit in the 8 or 9 spot.

Forgot the 2nd part of Clyde's question.

Hense the name of the thread... Clyde:laugh: haha.

Hitting will not be a weakness for CovCath this season, nor will it be a lack of scoring runs, what the trouble just be might be is "D". Logan gives you great range and allows Krumps to put a senior who is a good baseball player in Left Field. Two of the Pitchers won't be DH for (Ice/Nutini) so you could if you want DH for Siemer. As I said I move RD to right and Klein to 3rd and that gives you a rather strong outfield, with either Nutini or VanSant in CF.

When Isler Pitches, Krumme will likely play 1st base, and he will not be swinging the bat, and when Nutini pitches, the outfielder playing to cover his spot may also be DH'd for.

Who is CovCath's ace pitcher, because i remember last year they were loaded on pitching and I thought that would be their best strength considering they didnt lose any pitching i dont think.
