What is Obama afraid of?

Featured Replies

Voters. That would be those that are set on him now.

As I said in another thread, I have to wonder if America is ready period, all this crap about race from both sides.

I am still confused...what about the voters that are set on McCain right now? Or do you mean that there are voters set on (or against) Obama purely because of his race?

I have to agree with Rockmom's post in the other thread. After the first black president is elected, it will become a non-issue, I think.

I'm not trying to be thick but I don't follow. Are you saying those that say they want him won't really show up? They're lying? They don't trust a brother?

Obama is bi-racial, not black or white. Race should not be an issue since he is a mixture of both. Therefore, both races should feel good voting for him if their only issue is race itself. I just wish he would acknowledge that he is bi-racial and be proud of it. But to answer the question of "what is Obama afraid of", I don't think he is afraid of McSame (opps McCain). He is very intelligent, resourceful and could hold his own against McCain. I think we will actually see the youngster put it on the senior citizen when the debates begin.

Pretty weak. McCain should quit sitting on his hands with this one.

This is precisely why there should be more than the three debates. How long have we had to endure those scripted spectacles every fall? I want to see candidates think on their feet, be asked real questions (and perhaps ask real questions themselves), and have their feet held to the fire when they duck and dodge. Is it not time for a change?

The more I read the more I want Habib to run for president.

Do voters actually get anything out the debates? Do candidates actually say anything new or , heck, do they even answer the questions posed?

Now THAT I am on board with! :thumb:

(I think we already nominated him, didn't we?)

I'm saying all they do is whine about race. Heck, I've heard on this board, in the media and out on the street that if he loses, it's because he's black. If you say something negative, you're being racist and on and on an on.
Hillary dismantled Obam in their last debate and Obama refused to debate her again. Obama is not good in a debate setting because he has to rely on his knowledge of issues and meager experience. It will also be difficult for him to remember his most recently announced position on each issue. It is much tougher for a liberal to run as a moderate than it is for a moderate to run as a moderate.

Determining who wins a debate is nothing more then opinion, unless one messes up real bad. Hilary and Obama neither did that.

The polls, and delegate count wasn't going to change, the end of the primary went exactly as predicted. The public (other then the political junkies) were getting tired of seeing these two on tv week after week debating.

I am not sure, I do know that we have nominated "Alf" for president over on another thread and still going over the possibility of the VP. I suggested Mr. Ed in staying with the non human theme. Humans have had all of us screwed up long enough. :D

There may be alot of truth in that statement. I have said over and over I have many, many reasons why I will not be voting for Obama and race has absolutely nothing to do with any of them but yet, whenever I voice one of them the race thing comes up . Not just on bgp but out and around places here as well.

The race issue imo will work in favor of Obama just for the reasons that you have stated, that (race) is brought up in what seems like every conversation anywhere sooner ot later when there is a discussion on this election and imo Mr. Obama is loving it and is dang well using it. This especially comes up when he is discussing or confronted with a "real" important issue that he does not feel confident in and wants to avoid.

Obama doesn't even have to out and out say it now, he has suggested and hinted enough at it and his camp/supporters are throwing it out there at every opportunity.

Well, the conservatives sure haven't ignored it. If any hint of race is mentioned (as if we are all to ignore the pink elephant in the room), then they victoriously jump up and down and scream "race card! race card! see, we told you so!" If they didn't want it to be an issue, they wouldn't even comment on it.

It easily goes both ways here and both sides hope to benefit from it.

This whole thread is off. Obama isn't even legally black. You must be 1/8th of the ethnicity you claim according to federal law. He is only 1/16th, so in all acuality he wouldn't be the first black president. He'd be the first white/arab president, as he is over 40% Arab.

I read the article. Can you or someone find a link to the formula used to "identify ethnicity?" When I went to clik on any link in the article to see where they were getting their "facts" I found no link to any articles, just search engines.

When I went googling I never found a source that talked about a government formula. The most I found were various discussions about census and how to identify yourself in the census of 2000. (BTW, I never saw a box for Arab-American) Hope this link works to that form: http://www.oregon.gov/DAS/HR/docs/ppdb/eeoselfreportform.pdf

The closest I seem to find on looking up percentages would be from the old segregated south and not the federal government.

I found this site had some interesting reads around the subject but nothing concrete. http://198.66.252.234/gwinkel10.html
