What is Obama afraid of?

Featured Replies

Obama was able to milk the clock and duck one-on-one debates with Hillary Clinton in the closing weeks of the Democratic primary season after she mopped the floor with him in their last joint appearance. Will Obama manage to avoid being embarrassed following a similar strategy this fall? Obama had offered to debate John McCain anywhere, anytime back in May.

What is Barrack Obama afraid that the American public will learn about him when they see both candidates fielding the same questions without the benefit of a teleprompter?

Obama backs away from McCain's debate challenge

In a letter to the commission, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said the short period between the last political convention and the first proposed debate made it likely that the commission-sponsored debates would be the only ones in the fall.

"We've committed to the three debates on the table," campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in an interview. "It's likely they will be the three appearances by the candidates this fall."

Pretty weak. McCain should quit sitting on his hands with this one.

McCain should not appear in front of a camera without reminding the audience that Obama is unwilling to debate him more than is absolutely necessary.

I just watched Obama complaining about McCain's attacks on his record - what a whiner! McCain has obviously hit a nerve and he needs to keep pecking at that nerve. Is he going to spend the rest of the campaign warning the public that Republicans are going to play the race card - while he plays it himself?

McCain's campaign disparaged Obama for backing off. "We understand it might be beneath a worldwide celebrity of Barack Obama's magnitude to appear at town hall meetings alongside John McCain and directly answer questions from the American people, but we hope he'll reconsider," spokesman Brian Rogers said. - Obama backs away from McCain's debate challenge
Ouch! That's got to sting. It is good to see the McCain campaign deliver a nice jab in response to Obama ducking McCain's challenge. I suggest that McCain follow up with a "You can run but you cannot hide" ad campaign.

You know I am so tired of McCain and his followers whine about the race card. If you guys haven't noticed Obama is black. So the race card is in play every day. If you live in the USA race is a major issue every where daily. Maybe McCain should play the senior citizen card or better yet lets kill another 10,000 Americans card. Wait, I am sorry plays that one daily.

Let's elect McCain maybe is old body will find those MWD's that Bush has been looking for the last 8 years.:sssh:

If anybody has not noticed that Obama is black, just give them time. Obama will be reminding everybody of the fact again very soon. Obama really, really wants McCain to play the race card but McCain is just refusing to cooperate So, Obama continues play it himself and whines about nothing.

Excellent response. :thumb:

To answer your question, Obama has every good reason to be afraid that people will see through the carefully crafted "front" to the fact that he is nowhere near being qualified to command the greatest nation on earth. His resume is weak, and he is incapable of sparring one-on-one with an old battle horse like McCain. McCain will eat him alive.

For the record, I'm not a huge McCain fan either. He just has about 30 more years of real world experience.

It's only in play because Obama wants it that way. I have to say, a lot of Obama followers just aren't ready for a black candidate and they prove it on a daily basis. I find that quite sad.

Umm no, it is not a major issue every where daily. I deal with a wide range of people on a daily basis, at their best and worst, and rarely if ever does race become an issue. I am not naive enough to think it isn't an issue some place more than others, but it is no where near the issue BHO, Jackson and Sharpton would have us all believe.

RTS, can you elaborate?

If you have not noticed, he had a black father and a white mother, if I am not mistaken.

How does that make him more black than white?

It doesn't but Obama wants to be the black candidate and he wants to make race an issue in this race. There are far fewer racists in this country than liberals want to admit. Some people will vote for Obama to prove to themselves that they are not racists.

Obama does not care why people vote for him, as long as their votes put him in the White House. Very few people will vote against Obama because he is black. Many people will vote for him because he is black (or is seen as black). That is why Obama feels the need to constantly remind people that he is black. He believes that it is a winning "issue" for him.

I think you need to generationalized that. 50 years and younger, I don't think that will be an issue.

50 years and older, I think it will be an issue because they grew up in a far different time than I did.

I won't vote for a candidate that thinks abortion is acceptable form of birth control in this country hiding behind "it's a women's choice what to do with her body" argument whether they are white, black, green, purple, plaid, albino, etc, etc.

We have been through this numerous times on here.
