I actually love the all inclusive idea. The possibilty of a cinderella story would be great. If only 14% of teams are not currently making the playoffs, what the heck, let'em all in......

I think there should be 5 classes...Since 5a would have the biggest enrollment discrepancy, limit it to the biggest 32 schools and allow all 32 to make the playoffs, just like it is now....That would leave 191 teams, so there would be 48 in each class, with 47 in 1 of the remaining 4 classes.. Let the top 2 teams in each district have a 1st round bye, with the other 32 teams in each class playing a 1st round game..That gets everyone in the playoffs and only adds 1 additional week to the season, or, like some others have mentioned, either start 1 week earlier or eliminate the bye week and it still ends at the same time...

I think we should start the playoffs in August, so everyone has a chance.

I liked the 4 class system that we had. Since we have the 6 classes I too like only 16 going.

First off eliminate the bye week. In six-class football with eight districts per, I'm in favor of 24 teams making the playoffs, three teams per district. The district winner is given a bye in the first round (there is the week off they didn't get in the regular season), while the 2's and 3's meet each other. Winners meet up with 1 seeds in the next round. With at least four teams in every district, each team would at least have to win their way into the playoffs.

This is giving me a headache.

How about a 3 game regular season to determine district seeding then a 12 week quadruple elimination playoff? Then everyone can say they at least made it to the 4th round of the playoffs. Would that make everyone happy? Would all the students then feel good about themselves?

16 teams in 4 classes is more than plenty. Make the regular season mean something.

Let's also not forget football is the only sport with anywhere near six classes. It's also the only sport where being better than 32 other teams can make you a state champion.

I agree, 100% of the teams make the playoffs in basketball, unless they have been naughty.:lol:

 

Then let's really make it like basketball, and use the same district and regional format. Oh, and play for only one state champion as well. Everyone is in the tournament, and we play for one champion. :dancingpa
