Griffin and Deeds did start many games their junior year. I believe Andrew played some on defense but Luke McDermott, the unsung hero of the defense, especially against Male started at defensive end at one side. Griffin started many games in the offensive line but when T went to the two way lineman later in the season, he got less playing time I believe. Both are solid players that will take the baseball route in college.

 

Both epitomize that second level of football player that develops into winning players by their junior/senior year at Trinity. My initial point was Trinity's team last year had outstanding first level players that will be playing football in college that also were leaders of the team. Stein has tremendous leadership qualities and he will be an outstanding coach someday. The question to the T faithful is not can Whiting and Philips run a 4.5 or faster 40 time-or bench press 400 pounds rather can they be the leaders or will that come from the second level players?

Deed's was one of the starting defensive end's and Luke McDermott was the opposite defensive end. And Griffin started as the Right Offensive Guard all season and through the playoffs. Jimmy Ref, as you always say it is just an honor to be on the same field as the Rocks, at least get your facts right, Big Guy.

They made the other players want to be better- do you see those two as that type of leader or are they the "I'll get my numbers" type of player?

 

This last line is a very unfair statement in making Tim and Jordan sound selfish. That couldn't be further from the truth. While I am genuinely concerned in that we don't have those vocal leaders like we often do, Brian Brohm was quite the calm leader, and all he did was win 3 state titles. I don't think he was all about his numbers either.

I wasn't trying to make them sound selfish. I was simply inquiring from people close to the Trinity program about their leadership skills. From the times I have been around Mr. Whiting, he seems very intelligent and reserved, sort of like Larry O'Bannon from U of L and Male who I think the world of. But O'Bannon needed Ellis Myles to get after the team. I love that he will be playing for the Buckeyes but I sense that Griffin, Weitlauf, and Stein will be missed. As to BB, if you have a NFL second round pick on this team, more power to you.

I'm hearing really good things about Male, particularly involving vastly improved line play on both sides of the ball. If true, Male will surprise those folks that want to place then down below the top 5. I think last year was an aberration and Male will be back in the top 3/ legit contender for the state title discussion before the end of the year.

I would be inclined to agree with you if you said "...Male is unlikely to beat us..." Cannot is a very strong statement. Cannot implies that if the 2006 Male and Trinity teams played head to head ten times, T would win all ten. I doubt anyone who saw the game believes that.

^ You know what, you are right....if Male is more talented they can beat us. If Male is equal to us, or lesser than us in talent, they have no chance....I do believe that.
