July 28, 200818 yr I heard on ESPN, that if the Red Sox DO trade Manny, which is unlikely, but if they do, look for them to go after Dunn to fill that hole in the lineup. They won't trade Manny this season. They'll just take a chance on winning the title with him. If they let him go they'll spend the money on Dunn but the difference is the Red Sox don't need him to hit in a money spot. They can go with: 1. Ellsbury 2. Pedroia 3. Youkilis 4. Ortiz 5. Drew 6. Lowell 7. Dunn 8. Varitek 9. Lowerie They don't have to have Dunn drive in runs like the Reds. The Sox don't have to have Corey Patterson or Jr. figure in a big spot. That's how you win a Title.
July 28, 200818 yr Author I think that is safe to say and has been for......lets say opening day. I wasn't saying wild card at any time lately and don't think that I did pre season, not sure though. This team has some good young players with potential for the future but no team leader or management of that talent. JMO This trip 2-4 or 3-3. We have had a few that have uttered Wild Card recently. They know who they are:lol:
July 28, 200818 yr I was out of town this weekend but I heard that Griffey was upset with the Cowboy and expressed it after he hit his HR on Saturday.

July 28, 200818 yr I was out of town this weekend but I heard that Griffey was upset with the Cowboy and expressed it after he hit his HR on Saturday. What was he upset about, and how did he express it?
July 28, 200818 yr Author What was he upset about, and how did he express it? Didn't see or hear it live, but evidently after hitting a home run, he let loose with a profanity laden tirade that was picked up on FSNs mikes. He was upset that Brantley commented on his lack of making plays on a couple of routine fly balls. This is what was reported this morning on the radio.
July 28, 200818 yr Author What was Votto doing at 1st base yesterday when a wild pitch goes to the backstop and he doesn't advance?
July 28, 200818 yr I'll be glad when this season ends. For the past 8 or 9 seasons, the best I've felt about this team has been the blind optimism I feel every spring. It slowly fades and sometimes lasts until the all-star break. Looking forward to that feeling again,,,,,,,,waiting until spring.

I like Griffey Jr, I respect what he has done, and how he has done it. I think he has done a lot of great things for individuals in need, and for young fans, but he has got to be one of the most sensitive ballplayers I've ever seen.

July 28, 200818 yr What was Votto doing at 1st base yesterday when a wild pitch goes to the backstop and he doesn't advance? Some of that has to be on the 1B coach as well. Maybe they were in the middle of a conversation. "Hey, Hatch, did you hear what Junior said about Cowboy in front of the cameras?"

"Hey, Hatch, did you hear what Junior said in front of the cameras?" Actually after it happened, it looked like Hatch was asking him, what the heck are you doing? As much as I like Votto's potential, he doesn't always seem to have his head in the game.:creepy:

This season for the Reds is over and really has been for quite a while.
